Poll's bug and request.

Hi,

I want to report that I can't go backwards when failing to post a poll (i.e. forgetting to post question in question field and pressing submit), having to fill poll options again (not very comfortable when handling with image polls). I'm using Firefox latest version (3.6.6) and Windows Vista SP2. Didn't test with other browsers but one thing I know is that, when this happened in GTP9, I could go backwards, to the moment before I would press the submit poll button.

Also, is it possible for the poll character limit to be raised a bit to 250/300 characters, as opposed to the current 200 characters.
It's not something urgent, but would be important for future GT5 Photomode Competitions. Has it stands now, I, or others competition hosts have to either re-upload the faulty image or take out the link to the full size image, and it is not that difficult to achieve the 200 characters limit when we talk about an image linked to it's full sized one.

Best regards,
Nicknamealguem

I just raised the poll character limit to 500, I didn't realized that was a problem. I don't completely understand your other question, though. If you want to edit a poll, use the "Edit Poll" feature to add another option.

Thanks for the risen poll character limit, Jordan. 👍

Also, we can now edit polls? Has in, edit a poll I already had made? Didn't know about this new (?) feuture. :)

But no, my other question it's about another thing. Let me see if I can explain it this way:
  • I add a poll in the thread or add a thread with poll;
  • Fill all the poll options, except for the poll question (always forget about that one);
  • Press the submit poll button and there is a notify saying to press the back button (on the browser, I suppose) to add a question in the poll question field;
  • I press the back button and nothing happens;
  • I right click in the back button to go to one of the previous stages and nothing happens;
  • I can go backwards, but to the place where I was first before I even started filling the poll options.
  • Result = I have to fill it all over again. :(

Dont press the back button. I think (from memory) that you go to the first post of a poll and press edit. Once you are in the quick edit, go to the advanced edit and I think the stuff should be there.

I am sure Jordan knows better than me so if what I said doesnt work, try to find the Edit Poll button, I personally haven't seen it before.

Sorry, I misspoke, poll editing is only something moderators/administrators can do. Anyways, thanks for the clarification on your other issue, Nicknamealguem. I can't replicate this in Firefox 3.6.7. When the poll question is left blank and I see the error message you described, I am returned to the poll composition page as I left it upon the first press of the back button. You could try updating to 3.6.7, otherwise I'm out of ideas as to what could be causing that issue for you.

Strange, I thought that 3.6.6 was the latest Firefox Version. Anyway, I updated Firefox and tried to add a poll to this thread. I first tried with the normal 2 poll options, fill them up, didn't fill the poll question, the notification appeared but I did managed to get backward to where the poll options where still written. I thought that problem was solved, but, I tried another thing, and here is where the problem stands:

  • Set poll options to 11;
  • Didn't fill the question option;
  • Poll to close 4 days from now/today;
  • Made the votes public;
  • Pressed preview 4 times;
  • Submit poll - notification appears - can't go back

Hope you can identify the problem. :guilty:

Edit: It doesn't seem to need that from above, I tryied now after posting this and a simple update to another number of options and pressing submit does the same thing.

I don't think I will be able to. Even if I was able to replicate the problem, this is commercial forum software, and it could take me several days of hacking to figure out exactly what's going on.

Well, thanks anyway. 👍
Just to add, I tried the same with Internet Explorer until I got the notification, I press back button, it appears a page saying that the page has expired, press refresh and I get the poll options still written. That means that Firefox doesn't let me go backward to expired pages.

It seems I have to be careful and fill the poll question before pressing submit from now on.
