I'm doing the Poly cup right now in an elise 190, which does not seem possible in any way shape or form. Albeit I'm on T2s, my only real compitition is the Z which never came closer than 5 seconds behind, although at one point I noticed that it was gaining 2 seconds for every sector which was odd. But the main question is "How can an elise 190 kick so much ass against these other cars?????" Is it the low weight? Because 190 HP vs. 300HP is obviously no match at all. I'm not THAT good of a driver, am I? :scared:

Also, would it be possible to win the Poly cup with something like a miata or mini on T2s? I never pitted once during 20 laps at trial mountain, but the AI pitted at least 3 times so it seems possible.

The Elise 190 is a well balanced car. And if you stay off the rumble strips you're doing even better driving it. I must say that the Elise 190 has to easily one of my favorite, same goes with the little Tommy Kaira ZZ-S which is just as fast in the Polyphoney Digital Cup. But its nice to hear someone use a lower class car againest Higher classes and still winning. And also you're staying with the competition, which is also really good.

I managed a suprisingly easy win in the ZZS at the Poly cup.

What you're missing is the power to weight ratio. Having a 300hp car that weighs in at twice what your 200hp car does, means you've got an advantage. Your HP is pushing 1/3 less weight than his is. It's also braking 1/3 less weight than his. So you've not only got better acceleration, but better tire wear as well.

You speak of the Z gaining 2 seconds in every sector, Was that perhaps on Seattle?

Take a read through the write-ups sections, and you'll see a handful of threads about the Poly cup. One of my favorite runs was in a strait from the dealer, Lotus Esprit V8 SE (no oil or tire change).

The whimpiest car that I've ever heard of winning the Poly cup series was a Toyota MR2 (G-limited I believe).

Trial mountain- the Z went from -12 seconds to -5 seconds in a matter of 3 sectors. Wouldn't it have to be going at least 300 mph ot something?(mind you, I hadn't wrecked and I'd been going at a good clip as well.)

Because, the hot shoe in the PD Cup always gains massively on you as the last lap or two of the race comes up.

why do you ask?
IT seems for some reason, that the AI are Hooked up on that Track. In a recent run with an Esprit V8, I managed a hair breath win (0.006 or similar). Yet in the next track, I was nearly a minute out in front.

Then again, I'm cursed at Seattle.

I posted a review of PD cup a couple of days ago, strangely enough, there are 2 tracks in that series where one or more cars suddenly become like whippets on speed. Seattle II is one, and SS 11 II is the other. Going into Seattle off the back of a 40-ish second win at SS5 II, I had a fairly good ego boost, came down to ground with a bump at Seattle though.

Not just you, Der Alta, that is cursed, the AI has fooled us all! :scared:

siR civic?
AE86?
old rx7?
vitz????

None of those will have a chance. The power to weight is not competitive.
The AI picked will always be Skylines, NSX, Lancers, Mustang, 350Z etc which will
always beat these lower powered cars.
So look at the power to weight ratio to make comparisons.

The new RX-8 with Super Slicks can walk this contest with its eyes shut!
Stiffest competition in the series is offered by the Nissan Z Concept. If you're worried about getting beaten by it, reload until you get a field without that car, then its all downhill from there. ;)

I've only ever done this race in a R390 Road Car, but then again I only did it for the F094/S, perhaps the Mini could use a little workout today............

LOL what's the challenge in that?

Although I do admit I had a ball slaughtering the competition in the TS020. Actually, come to think of it, I think I won the TS020 in that race.

I already had the f/094s at that point, since I won the SS Endurance, so I did that championship to win the ts020...
