Well, after some early testing I was leaning towards the R390 as the ideal car to complete the PD Cup with, but after testing tyre longevity, the scale has been completely tipped upside down.

I tested for tyre wear at Grand Valley Speedway and got some excellent results.

As it turns out, the R390 is quite a sweet little cornering machine when you take TCS and ASM off.

Here are the results:

Honda NSX Type S Zero
  • Tyre: Medium Best Lap: 2'09.144 Pit Entry: Lap 6 Tyre Condition: Front left red, rest yellow.
  • Tyre: Medium-Hard Best Lap: 2'08.373 Pit Entry: Lap 7 Tyre Condition: Front left red, rest yellow.
  • Tyre: Hard Best Lap: 2'07.634 Pit Entry: Lap 9 Tyre Condition: Front left red, rest yellow.
  • Tyre: Super-Slick Best Lap: 2'08.582 Pit Entry: GAVE UP AFTER 13 LAPS Tyre Condition: Front left red, rest yellow.

Nissan R390 Road Car

  • Tyre: Medium Best Lap: 1'57.827 Pit Entry: Lap 5 Tyre Condition: Front tyres orange, rear yellow.
  • Tyre: Medium-Hard Best Lap: 1'57.267 Pit Entry: Lap 6 Tyre Condition: Front tyres orange, rear yellow.
  • Tyre: Hard Best Lap: 1'56.682 Pit Entry: Lap 10 Tyre Condition: Front tyres red, rear yellow.
My lap times in the NSX fell off using Super-Slicks for reasons unknown, and I didn't test Super-Slicks in the R390.

As I said, the scale has completely been turned upside-down. The NSX is now running tops while the R390 has been pushed aside as my favoured car for running the PD Cup.

Sunday testing should prove more conclusive as I am going to trial mix-and-match tyre choice, ie T2 front, T3 rear. I achieved my best time of Hard tyres and the rears were still yellow after 9 laps so I am going to trial T3s on the back and T2s on the front, to give the best mix of lap times and tyre wear.

With luck the R390 will claw its way back into contention slightly.

Jeez, just run the race already! All this preparation for one series!!! :p Come on...let's see some real results...;) :p j/k...

Well, it's the toughest friggin' series in the game! Stock cars - gotta test!

Not really...any series can be as hard as you make it, and the NSX will kick all the other cars in the race very badly...

Yeah, I know that, I just like to test.

Well, are you going to do that for every series you enter? And shouldn't this be in the write-up section anyway?

DODGE actually has a point........

HOW did you get your fastest laps on HARDS!!!!

BLOOODY HELL

I suck when i drive with hards...no comments please......

Dude you have too much time......

The NSX can run some races without even one stop if you use the hardest tires. I'll be running the PD cup completely soon, but we were running SS11 in the PD cup as a challenge and I got a 30.20 on Hard Tires with best lap in that race of 1.29.7, the winner (I was 3rd by a few tenths!) ran a whopping 30.07 with a best lap of 1'29.1 or something (awesome driving). Interestingly enough, all contestants came to the conclusion that no pitting / hardest tires were the way to go with the NSX. Check out the results and replays here:

That's a nice car to run it in. The best times at www.gt3times.com have all been run in a GT-One Road Car though, which no really big surprise, so if you want to make it really easy on yourself you should get that car first. I've upgraded mine to the max, so I'm going to wait until I win a new one.

I just used a Lotus Esprit V8 on medium slicks it was well easy. If I was you I would go for the Nissan its power/weight ratio is preferable to any of the other cars valied for entry to the series save the GTone.

I used the Camaro SS and there are plenty of cars that can beat up the SS. I wanna try maybe using the Elise in this. Both those cars are going to annihilate the comp BTW.

Just wondering what cars run in this race and what there qualifying times are.

Don't have my S licence yet :( i was going go test the skyline r34 gtr vspec2.

miata is right. The Motorsport Elise blows everything else away by a clear lap in every race.

If you want a challenge go FF. Otherwise pretty much anything else will win it for you.

I think a Z28 can even beat this series, it would take some work, but I think with proper pit strategy it could work. I am even questioning the fact maybe something like a class B could do it. Anyone up for an S2000 in the race?

I'll do it. I'm bored.

Hell, I have won the series in an Integra Type-R, so it's not that hard...
