This is the ongoing and always growing list of things that are NOT as they should be in GT5, found by TeamGT in these first few days of testing; it regards mainly the online experience.
We called this the MRL list, meaning the Most Ridiculous Limits list. We believe these are unacceptable limits/bugs/missing features in a game that has been under development for five years at least, especially considering that most of what you’ll read in the following list is already available in other, less famous and less glorified games!!!
So here it goes:

- car setups are limited to one for each car, you can’t save different setups for different tracks under different names.

- And, absolutely incredible, all setup modifications will be saved in this single car setup ONLY if you make them in the main garage area. If, on the other hand, you set up the car in an online private lobby… they’re LOST!!! The game always loads the setup you made in the main garage area!

- in ONLINE "LOUNGE" racing (is there any other meaningful online???) you CANNOT modify car setup when you are in the pits. Instead you must go back to the main lobby. Unfortunately, when you go to the main lobby, ALL YOUR TIMES ARE LOST! You get back on the track after modifying setup and, alas, you’re back to last place. This thing is so stupid it exceeds any possible human comment.

- in theory you can configure the game to issue penalties for cutting corners. Too bad we tried in several tracks and there are ENORMOUS FLAWS in this mechanism. You’ll get penalties for certain meaningless cuttings, while you can cross a grass field as wide as the Red Sea in other corners without the game being aware. Moreover, there’s no cutting corner verification in pre race trials, where you set your qualifying time!

- cars lagging behind one or more laps will become transparent when you catch up with them, and you can pass them through. Are we all Harry Potters? Or shouldn’t we expect a more realistic driving experience???

- when the first race driver reaches the finish line, the race continues only for 20 seconds. This period of time should be increased to about one lap time for each track, and anyway not less than one minute. Best duels happen often at the last lap… if there IS a damn last lap!!!

- while driving in qualifying (btw, was it so hard to use the word QUALIFYING???) you see a list of drivers, on your right. Two things: first, this list is compiled by a drunken algorithm, as it is normally incorrect. And would be such a complex technical feature to introduce a display of each driver’s LAPTIMES in this LIST???

- if this lack of information is ridiculous in qualification, it gets OFFENSIVE during racetime:
1) there should be names on the map, or initials, near each driver marker
2) there is no gap measurement between a driver and the preceding and following competitor. The game only tells you how much you’re lagging behind from the leading driver. What for??? We are not asking for a real time gap measurement (as you can have on a normal simulator). It would be enough to see these gaps once a lap, on the finish line…

-Only the host MUST decide setting, restrictions and click on "Start Race"; Only the host must able to kick out idiot player from the rooms; only the host must able to invite into room the players, also if not on PSN friend; Able set the password on room

- More players in room on track, 16 is few

- Able to tune the gear ratio for each auto like past GT!!!!!!

- serious simulation limits

- You can’t decide how much fuel you want to load at race start.

- You can’t set individual gear ratios, but only the final ratio. This is meaningless.

Now let’s see some smaller details, still very relevant but not so humongous as the previous remarks:
- In the private rooms every player can alter race parameters (tracks, cars, rules), and can start the race. This makes no sense. Only the current host should be allowed to do this.
- The chat window in the driving HUD is a pain in the ass: too big, useless, and annoyingly chatty: why must there be hellos and goodbyes for every coming and going???

-Engine failure, damage to car and tires (patch v1.03 has solved some)

GENERAL IN GAME OFFLINE
-too much noise vibration when go high speed
-review the physics of drive especially the tires, road tires is too much slippery and the racing tires are too much glued
-upgrade brake!!!!
-from ASpec endurance able to pass in BSpec during race like GT4 (24h impossible!!)
-BSpec able to accelerate the time like GT4
-more tuning wheels

Our conclusion: the game has some positive characteristics, but appears to have been imagined and designed by somebody who knows as much about real and simulated car racing as you can expect a baby to know about nuclear physics.

POLYPHONY DIGITAL, PATCH THIS GAME!!!!!

I ask the moderators to highlight this thread so that everyone read!

see ya!

I have to say i agree with most/all of them as well....

More patches than a world war 1 hero.

multiple exclamation marks, all caps and hyperbolic adjectives don't add credibility to a post. I advise some anger management courses.

Also, I don't think PD needs to be "told" to patch the game, given that they already released three patches since release (and lol at the comment on confort tires).

Finally, why should the moderator highlight your thread? Do you have some reason to believe that your whines are more important/relevant than everyone else's whines?

sorry...
practically the PD patch for now are of little use

yamasukkia wake up !!!!!

tons of trivial ones like

"too much noise vibration when go high speed"

"review the physics of drive especially the tires, road tires is too much slippery and the racing tires are too much glued"

wanna know why they are slippery and dont grip to great is cause they are designed for normal road usage :P they arent designed to cope well with stress like this.

And guess you aint been keeping up the online is literally getting a revamp this month to make it meaningful for the CoD generation that is.

Ah, the usual Italian way of warping names to make them insulting. As an Italian I'm always pretty ashamed to see this kind of crap online.

Little use? For who? I found them quite usable. Anyway patches don't code themselves, so I'm pretty much sure that he's quite awake and working.

You wanting stuff NOW won't make it appear faster. It'll just show how rude you are.

First "angry" post that have been 100% spot on.

First of all, if you write on an international forum, learn some english. My eyes are bleeding.

Secondly, warping someone's name as "yamasucks" is decidedly pretty rude.
And people wonder why I systematically avoid my fellow-countrymen online...

You should only be grateful that after 5 years the developer is very willing to perfect the game further. Most would just leave it as it is and start producing DLC cars to grub more money.

Agree with all the online comments. Offline ones though I'm not fussed about. Online is too broken, and offline AI is too broken to even consider the offline points you raised. Fair play to PD though for their hard work on the patches so far. Just a shame it came to this though. Being a developer I can appreciate the coders positions at PD. So personally I'm placing the blame at the feet of the game testers.

None to very little of this will even get considered for a patch. Its not the types of things they really look at.

Good points, I agree with almost all of them, except the 16 players race limit, because I think it's way enough to have some great fun in a race, and the game won't allow more cars anyway...

YAWN... all the points have already been mention in numerous other threads.

Why feel the need to create yet another whinge thread? Eager to see your name in lights or something?

5/6 years of waiting is a completely moot point. Polyphony Digital didn't hold me at gunpoint to be chaste and wait for the game without playing anything else. It didn't and shouldn't influence the end-user in the least, other than in his perceived (and irrational) expectations.

I'm happy with the product I bought, because I had realistic expectations (it helps a lot in enjoying gaming), and because I've already been shown that (as opposed to most other developers), PD is very willing to continue to improve it with time.
Ultimately simply because, being quite rational and knowing just a little bit about game development, I can recognize that Gran Turismo 5, while having a few flaws, includes more than enough content, variation and potential for fun to completely justify such a (relatively) long development time.

If you think a developer with fifteen years of experience needs to be "thaught" by you what to do, then I'm afraid your arrogance if beyond rescue.

If you want the topic to be constructive, first of all drop the arrogant "I know better!" attitude, then I'd advise to tell your friends that came to bump your posts to avoid silly insults like "yamasucks", remove all caps and multiple exclamation marks that make you look like a yelling psycho throwing a tantrum more than anything else.
Insulting and yelling at developer isn't exactly the best way to get him to listen to your feedback.

This even without considering that repeating the same complaints that have already written a thousand times in this forum simply isn't constructive or useful at all.

where are other topics??
must be a single topic where it is listed all, and I think these things should have a place of greater importance, for exaple in home page so Poliphony Digital sure will read.

Closing this thread. I get a headache from trying to read it (poor grammar, multiple use of Italian) and all these points have been mentioned before in other threads.

Also, as far as I am aware not a single baby ever succeeded in generating nuclear energy or an atomic bomb, at best some toxic gasses.
