i noticed there are no upgrades for the f1 car and i was wondering how i could make it faster using gear ratios , and im looking for somehelp setting the ratios because im new to the tuning part of gran turismo i usually just buy whatever i can for the car and leave it at that. Any help would be greatly apreciated. :)

Well yes. in a way. Make the final gear number smaller, and to a limit you can go faster... but very little from default. Make the number larger, and you accelerate faster. Us a smaller final or default auto for tracks like Route 246, and a larger final or smaller auto for tracks with short straits.

Suspension makes some difference too, search for peoples explanations of setting. When I raced the F1, I decreased the downforce by 5 fromt and read. This reduces it's drag to the wind and allows the car to have a better top speed. Take too much off, and your car will lose grip on the corners. It's a give-take love affair with all the settings.

I have noticed that a 15 on the tranny works very well in not so fast courses, and that reducing the downforce to 68, 86 can make it go faster. i beat all of the formula races using slightly faster accelerating ratios, and less downforce.

Happy racing :)

has anyone got it passed 220mph

i have gotten the car to 225, but thats all the further i can get it, in a normal race(aka anything besides test track). i think i use auto 17 to start then rounded everything to the nearest 10 up or down, i know it sound funny but it does work. although i haven't got the suspension right yet, can anyone offer a little help with that. the car does work out nicely for most races.

Ill have to play around with mine but i did a few test runs and i found lowering the downforce on the beast realy does help also set the TCS to 0 as for the gear ratios, ill try that here in a few.

There is no need in my opinion to change the car at all. If your smart and you draft it will go 221 (Stock). Although if you racing a Minolta Toyota or something it may beat you in speed but on corners if you can drive at all you should dominate every race. Also on the formula races I one every single race when I A-Spec them the only races I didn't take first in were ones that I b-spec. So a good tip would be don't let bob drive.

When running in the Formula GT championship on my first profile, I was drafting on some of the straights, and still only hitting ~360 km/h. I was able to hit ~350 km/h in unassisted acceleration (with reduced downforce, of course).

The Formula cars weren't designed for the utmost speed, but for flat-out acceleration and razor-edged maneuverability.
