This is the most valuable muscle car of all times.

Most valuable?

What do they go for?

A basic 1969 hardtop Trans Am usually sells for more than 400 000$
As for the convertible model; only 8 ever made.

Now for the "phase IV" models, we don't know how many ever been built. Prolly fewer than 30, with maybe one or two convertibles - if any at all.

Forgive my ignorance of classic muscle. I appreciate them for what they are, but have never taken a real interest.

Only 8 ever made makes it seriously rare in my book and therefore priceless Indeed.

$400,000? Where? Hemis bring more money than almost any musclecar at auction.

To my knowledge, nothing is more valuable than Hemis - with one exception - and you're looking at it.
I once saw at Soteby's a Phase IV 1969 Trans Am with the 4 speed manual transmission selling for 481 000$ USD.

Barrett Jackson results had one go for $184k recently. The "basic hardtop" probably doesn't get the 400k that one went for.

Gosh my bad, I said "A basic 1969 hardtop Trans Am usually sells for more than 400 000$" I should have said : "A basic 1969 hardtop Trans Am usually sells for more than 200 000$" I'm sorry it was a mistypo.

As for the "phase IV" I stand correct. A "phase IV" 69 T/A is more valuable - and more rare than most hemis.

Since I don't have that kind of money, I could spare here and there some coins and get myself a 69 T/A clone, for 40-45 000 USD hish, in something like 30 years. :D

The covertable version is especially rare, and a coupled with a ram air 4 engine (ram air 5 engine made for trans-am road racing series is kind of a unicorn motor, as none ever was installed in a production car, but could be bougth by racers)
