Has anyone else noticed the awful pop up on London & Eiger replays? I've noticed a little & occassionally on most tracks but really badly on these tracks when viewing replays, the thing that really gets me is that the Eiger track where it happens is exactly the same as the one in Prologue & there was no pop up at all in that game! How can a game go backwards like this, surely as a games developer you make a game better not worse & weather effects ect are not responsible cos there is no weather on London or the particular Eiger I'm talking about!

:boggled:

Yeah, this is pretty bad in Eiger, Tokio, Cape ring and even susuka (the grades next to the last turn aren't full with people 'til you get there). Is not like a HUGE bug, but is surely a little annoying for a game of this generation. Hope they patch it.

I suspect, that even although there is no "weather" there is an environmental system that is still being modelled.. or perhaps it's just the increase in the number of poly's the models have in gt5 vs prologue?

We know that it's been suggested that the PS3 is at it's limit to cope with all of this..

And so this is one technique a games developer can utilise to reduce the memory footprint of the game and keep more core functions in ram (physics, car position) or to offload the processing by batching the display function of certain objects to another core.. allowing the main game code functions to stay on the one processor core (switching cores is a big waste of time, and time is precious in a simulator).

It would be great if it could be fixed, but I think we are meeting the limitations of the platform (PS3) and not the engine (GT5).

Microsoft had a similar issue with Flight simulator FSX, when it first shipped.. there was poor visibility pop ups, low frame rates.. run it on to-days hardware and wow!!

So I'll cross my fingers and hope they can optimise the game engine more and remove these over time. but they appear to be adding features still!!

:)
