The PORSCHE 911 GT3-R is a GT3 spec version of the GT2 spec 911 GT3-RSR. This version is a hybrid, using technology from the Williams F1 car, including its KERS system, although the KERS provides power to the flywheel, not the batteries. The GT3-R has 2 electric motors producing 218BHP through the front wheels, while a 500BHP Flat-6 powers the rear. On May 28 2011 it won its first VLN race. At the 2011 24 Hours of Nurburgring, weight destructor penalties and technical difficulties resulted in the GT3-R finishing in 28th. It also raced as an unclassified car at the 2011 ALMS race at Monterey, and despite finishing at the back of all the GT cars, it finished ahead of all of them and set the fastest GT class lap.

Now that everyone, their parents, and their pets have Porsche... can you imagine how chaotic Gr.3 would be if this gets added to that class?
(Pardon for the necrobump.)

I think if this car was in Gran Turismo it would be Gr.X or Gr.3. Taking into account that this car has 4-wheel drive, we could assume that, like the Toyota GR010, it would be a monster on circuits with too big curves, such as Spa, Le Mans (at Porsche Curves, Esses and Tertre Rouge), Suzuka , Bathurst (from sector 2 to sector 11) and possibly Road Atlanta. Even so, it would be interesting to see this vehicle in the Gr.3 category, together with other unusual cars that competed against the GT3 such as:

  • Trident Iceni (Diesel powered GT car)
  • Volvo S60 (650 HP and 4WD)
  • Praga R1T
  • Radical RXC GT3
  • Porsche 935 (Britcar)
  • Taranis
