Porsche bashing in rubbish cars

We kicked a 1970 911s ass on the motorway using our F-reg Cavalier 1.6L after getting stuck in a jam because of a crash and we were badly late. My dad floored the throttle from the queue and we had our foot down the rest of the way.

We passed the Porsche entering a bend flat out at over 90mph drifted gently past and my dad just didn't lift.

The Porsche gave chase but neither the tyres or the driver were up to going fast and every time he tried flooring it it just slid wide or spun up.

He was passing us every straight doing about 120-125mph but each corner we took flat at over 100 lurching violently.

We supposedly hit 118mph according to the speedo, which is probably close to correct because the previous owner had fitted 16" alloys so the speedo would underestimate but speedos are normally over optomistic.

The steering wheel would shake like mad because the car was never designed to do that kind of speed.

Soon he was totally out of our mirrors after a series of bends in quick succesion after the 911 tried taking it at over 100 an ran onto the hard shoulder.

We had won!
:D

Here is a similar Cavalier but it's a 1.8

so your saying the same guy that drove about 1/8mile spinning tyres from the hand brake on and didnt know it.

beat a porsche 911 taking corners at over a 100mph in a Cavalier 1.6L

Unless the 911 driver was without any talent what so ever I find this very hard to believe!

The Cavalier is quite rightly not know for its handling prowess (i.e. it has no redeming handling qualities at all) and taking anything other than very open gentle bends at those kind of speed sounds a bit suspect.

Tell the truth... The Cavalier has no redeeming qualities of any kind.

Stupid thread. Unless the 911 driver is the ABSOLUTE WORST DRIVER IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, a pos cavalier would never stand a chance against a 911 in cornering, something 911s are renowned for. Either that, or the Porsche's tires are almost completely bald since you said his traction was very poor.

OK, where's that thread? The image is hilarious. I'm picturing his dad as having that oblivious expression that Bunta Fujiwara has, lmao.

They burn!

:yuck:

The goggles! They do nothing!

Seriously though, a 1970 911s is not an easy machine to coax speed out of. They're quick in a straight line, but setting the car up for fast cornering is quite an art form. They're particularly treacherous if you need to get out of the throttle mid corner.

Anyone used to modern day, common machinery would struggle to drive a 1970 911 quickly.

I'd suggest you had a fairly average driver at the wheel of a tricky machine.

I saw him in the queue before and his rear tyres were totally worn to the canvas.

The driver was a grey haired 60yr old+ with a funny coloured sweater on.

An we only won because he couldn't drive.

He placed both hands at the twelve o'clock position and swung the wheel to the left or right.

You got to remember we were nearly late!

I guess the car didn't lose the drive did.

This was on the A27(M), at two lane 'motorway' with a hard shoulder.

He stopped trying to keep up after a pretty hairy slide where over-opposite locked and ran onto the dusty hard shoulder.

If you don't want to believe me, fair enough but if you sat in any car when my dad is badly late, you would be leaving with a full pair of pants!

As did the 911 driver I guess!

Heh, I was right about the 911 losing due to a crappy driver and crappy tires. At least that clears up lots of things and makes the post much more believable (sp?).
