During its 2026 Capital Markets Day, Porsche confirmed that it is working on a “mid-engined super sports car platform that will enable a model line that sits above the iconic 911 sports car.” In other words, this isn't merely Zuffenhausen throwing another concept into a conference presentation.

The company is laying the groundwork for an entirely new family of flagship sports cars, with “model line” suggesting there could be more than just one vehicle. We can already imagine a coupe being joined by a roadster and other derivatives to achieve economies of scale, but it’s too early for Porsche to talk about all of them.

[...]

By 2030, Porsche wants to launch a new car every year, including the electric 718 Boxster and Cayman in 2027 and a replacement for the gasoline Macan in 2028 with combustion engines and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The three-row SUV positioned above the Cayenne is still under consideration, but it hasn’t been signed off yet.

The Mission S will most likely look like the Mission X and the 917 Living Legend concepts from years ago

Looks cool. At that angle the sculpture of the fenders and body remind me of the Mazda LM55 Vision GT.

More like the Aston Martin DP-100 VGT in my opinion:

I know it's probably the camera angle but it makes the rear of the car look really pinched and the front super wide like a snowplow lol. Let's hope the car tomorrow doesn't have such proportions.

Also it's funny they did another 917-inspired engine cover like they've never made another historically significant model in the history of motor racing. It's like Ford with the GT40 lol. We only have one historical model to reference for some reason.

I'm just going to with them taking rear spoiler cues from the 959. Looking at the limited vision of the wheels, I might not like them..

Gah, I missed it by 15 minutes! I guess we'll get a proper look soon...

Porsche hasn’t provided any technical specs, performance figures, pricing, or even a production timeline for the Mission S. It also hasn’t confirmed which models could eventually emerge from the new mid-engined platform. One thing we do know is that these vehicles won’t be electric.

For some reason I see a bit of the CC850 in this… and a lot of Magma GT (2 of the best looking modern cars in my opinion) mixed with a 911/918…. And I love it🤩

Also very nice that it doesn’t have an iPad for an infotainment screen, only a phone holder.

I also see a bit of the MCL6GT in the shifter/gear selector…

I think the triple white is a brave choice for the show car, but the more I look at it, the more I’m liking it. And let’s talk about these wheels. Just perfect 👌

Has for the front I think it is a bit to much aero. I’m not sure how to say it but it is as if they used RS parts for the front but used turbo parts for the rear. I’m a bit confused if they wanted a track car or a gt car..🤔 I don’t know 🤷‍♂️

Edit: according to Edmunds, Porsche said the production car will have ICE and hybrid variants, and also be offered in automatic and manual. Let’s go😁

I guess it’s every 911. Profile seems like GT1. I’d have gone with futuristic Fuchs or meshies for the wheels.

Okay... That's actually incredible. I can almost forgive Porsche for canning the non-electric 718 for now.

I was worried the other day from the leak of the engine cover it was just going to be another "oooh look at us we made the 917 remember that car guys?" styling exercise, but I'm very pleasantly surprised this has a lot more Type-993 911 GT1 in it than 917, which is amazing and completely unexpected for me.

Really looking forward to this making it to racing games, and it might actually be my favourite of the 2020s Holy Trinity, which is heresy when I'm a huge Ferrari fan and I should like the F80 more.

I am actually really impressed by this. I thought they would do something more low-slung and crazy, but I love how it resembles the original 911 GT1. They did well in my opinion, will fit in well with the rest of the new holy trinity 🤩

Do we really need to force another "Holy Trinity"? The one from 2013 made sense: three closely matched hybrid limited production high-performance cars that debuted within 7 months of each other. There hasn't been an obvious trio of cars like that since.

And this car certainly doesn't fit. This is a concept previewing a line of regular production cars that's many many years from going into production. It'll likely compete against a 296 successor or 849 Testarossa successor, not the F80.
