First off, I'm not selling anything here, so I don't think there's any violation of the board rules -- just trying to put out a feeler to see if anybody would be interested in something I have been considering.
There's been some interest on the ISR boards about custom wheel centers to replace the "BMW" logo on the BMW rim -- some folks say it seems a bit silly to have a "BMW" logo on the wheel when you're driving a car that's NOT a BMW.
Some have suggested Fanatec logos or the iRacing logo -- I'm not sure I could come up with a supplier for an iRacing logo or Fanatec, but my suppliers do have some "stock" stuff that is already licensed like Momo, Sparco, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, etc., and those would be easily do-able.
Removal of the BMW emblem is easy -- it just pops off if you pry gently, as it's held in place with double-sided tape, apparently:
I played around a bit and came up with a generic "F" of my own design that looks similar to the Fanatec logo -- again, I couldn't just do a custom run of Fanatec "F" logos without clearing it with Fanatec first because it's a copyrighted logo, but this is my own design, so I don't see any infringement issues with this design since it's of my own making:
These would all be "3D" emblems, with a clear dome over the color logo.
If I decide to produce these, they will be "simple" peel-and-stick emblems, so the price will be a bit cheaper than the T500 wheel centers -- I don't think it would be worth the effort to produce a plastic center with the positioning tabs in this case. With the T500 the plastic wheel center is somewhat required, but with the BMW rim, after you pop off the BMW wheel center the space you're left with is essentially an ideal mounting surface for something like this.
Anyway, if there seems to be enough interest, I may place an order for some sized to fit in place of the BMW logo on the BMW rim, so let me know what you think.
