Just noticed that the Escudo is called "Escudo Dirt Trial car" whereas previously it was surely something like "Escudo Pike's Peak"? That suggests to me there was a possible licensing issue, but i'm really hoping not!

You're just realizing they changed the name? LOL We've been over the name change since launch.

Suzuki has made a new Pikes Peak car anyway

Interesting, but again a bit off-topic. I guess I would need to look into the possible "licensing" of the Pike's Peak event. I know the DIRT series has it, would be so great to have it in GT also, rather than having to dig out GT1 or GT2 or whichever it was in, and surely that wasn't a complete configuration anyway.

Pike's Peak isn't really Pike's Peak any more either. Hasn't been for a while, and I think this was the last year that ANY of it will have been on dirt.

I would say Audi hold the rights to that name, as it is the model name rather than the event? Good point though, why not for the Suzuki?

Had lots of fun in Dirt 3 with this baby :)

I can also vouch for this in Dirt 3. This thing is driven by a "Monster" for a reason lol. It is so brutally fast and can be a handful sometimes.

I've just realised that's not an aerodynamic part at the front, it's a plough. :D

Pikes Peak would be good to see in this game personally. I'd like to see Rhys Millen's Hyundai racer myself, and of course the new sub 10 minute Suzuki Monster :D

C-Zeta, is it confirmed now he has got under 10 minutes on Pikes Peak? I know he has been trying to break that barrier for awhile.

He did get a 9:51 this time around. They've tarmaced the road fully this year though, don't know what that means...

Such a shame, I guess maybe they had to for practical reasons, but with the heritage there you would think there may have been some way of compromising. That said, I would still prefer them to not carve out another road/route in the countryside.

Nice car at around 4:48, looks like an old Austin Healey, which has something of a racing heritage itself.

Would love to see an old Group B car tearing up Pike's Peak :)

They changed the name from "Pikes Peak Edition" to "Dirt Trial Car" in GT4. They just copied and pasted it for GT5.

NA
He did. You missed it. Absolutely amazing. An experience for a lifetime. Two thumbs up. Can't wait for the DVD....👍👍

Damn. Oh well. Back to the topic at hand; kinda sucks when game developers make the concessions they do to avoid "licensing issues." If Pikes could've made the return from GT2, it would've GREATLY improved the rally portion of the game. Would've liked to see that newer car from Suzuki in it as well 👍

Means they've taken what was a kick-ass concept and made it just another road course...albeit at an insane altitude.

Well from 2:50 onwards it looks like the same old Pikes Peak dust clouds not tarmac

I think its almost impossible to include Pikes Peak in GT5. Track complexity, memory limitation, and we all know how accurate and serious PD about tracks and details. Red Bull just somehow mistaken Pikes Peak with Eiger I think, and maybe they don't played GT5 before that statement.

LOL! Video states Monster Tajima is a donut lover. Sorry; a little off topic, but hilarious.
From the bakery/donut shop or from the tires? :) No idea if there are any Dunkin' Donuts in the Pikes Peak area though... :D

One of those cars onboard at pikes peak
I'll see your video from 2010 and raise you 2 or 3 from this year!:sly:
