Alright so I'll start by saying that I have 2 GT5 discs, one is my original North American disc and the other is an Asian disc I bought about a year ago on eBay. The Asian disc also came with all Stealth and Chromeline cars. I made an Asian account and used the codes, but I have to use my Asian disc to use them. Anyways, I play on my American account with the Asian disc and the cars work. They always have, up until today. Yesterday I updated my Asian disc from 1.10 to 2.09. Ever since then I can't use the Chromeline cars AT ALL. I've tried redownloading, nothing. There's no yellow exclamation points either. I will select them, then it says "Switch to this car?" I select yes, but I'm still driving the same car. Nothing happens. I tried deleting the cars to reinstall, but nothing happens either. If I select "Create a Thumbnail" I get a black screen and eventually return to the my GT Home Screen, but no changes. What's weirder is that all of the stealth cars work without any problems? Could this be from the update or what is this? And fixes out there?

It not a glitch. Discs are region locked so you can't use the Asian disc with a NA account. Your problem was that you updated it, if you had stayed at version 1.10 (or whatever), you could have gotten away with it. Bugs like this get patched and blocked! They like to keep things within regions.

As for the Chromline cars, they have expired! You can't redeem them anymore, you can re-download but not redeem.

But I can use the stealth cars still? I still use the disc and go online with it and everything, and I have before.

How did you go online with your Asian disc before you updated. To my understanding, it won't let you play online unless you update. You say you were playing with that Asian disc online before you updated.

Also, I didn't think you could play an Asian disc on on American system.

That's exactly my understanding. The OP says he's been playing with version 1.10, the game forces you to update when you're connected online? Same with the discs being region locked. Something smells fishy here lol.

Just delete your update data on your asian disk and go back into the game and when it prompts you to update, either cancel it or just update it back to 1.10 and then cancel it. That should solve your problem and get your cars back 👍

Sorry should have been clearer. I had the game on 2.0-. During then I went online with it. Then I deleted the game data and started playing from 1.00 then moved up eventually and then just started on 1.10. The disc works on my system and I can still go online. Interesting fact here too, while I can go online with the Asian disc on my American account, the game datas are different so on my Asian disc my user appears online as a level 13 while if I'm on my American disc on the same account I'm a level 38.

So bluntfield whatever you're talking about with discs being locked, that must not be the case.

The discs are certainly not region locked, I can't think of any PS3 games that are and if there are any it's due to a third party (non Sony affiliated publisher). Just felt I should clarify that in case anyone was confused.

The asian disc works perfect in non-asian playstations.
Only dlc is region locked.

So to use the dlc of an asian disc (the codes) you have to use an asian account and most of the dlc is available on al accounts of your system. Excluding the paint / helmet / suit dlc.

There are how ever differences. The asian version doesn't have museum cards for example.
So if you are using both discs on one system it is possible to have some problems.

Maybe it is best to start with a new install of the game (the asian one) and update that one. First save your game progress and restore it when updating is done.

*edit* just to be sure, you did check the dlc button in the opening menu? You have to add them from there *edit*
