Possible to win the Skyline Seasonal with R33??

Hey guys, have golded all of the other seasonals, this is my last one. Tried for about 1.5 hours yestetrday. From what Ive been reading though, it doesnt look possible in an older Skyline. Im using the 1996 GTR V-Spec, 493 hp, ss tires, suspension mods (tuned for minimal understeer), diff upgrade (20/80), and as light as it can get (still pretty heavy).

I can consistently get 2nd with 128.5 lap times, but just cant catch the Ford GT (about 6 seconds back). From all of the other posts on this event, seem slike everyone is using the newer GTR's, and being 430,000 cr, theres really no reason to buy one at this point just to move up one spot.

Has anyone golded this event with an older Skyline? If so, any tips are appreciated.
 
With only a couple of goes I managed 3rd in a R32 GTR, tried the 09 R35 vspec with the tunes on here and could only get 5th

I guess if it's tuned right there's no reason why you couldn't as you have the same HP and should have less weight
 
After about an hour I did it with an R34, the one you get as a prize car early on (I think). It's white with a black hood. I was actually only at 460hp, so you should be able to manage it.

Gold with r35 with no sfr. Tried r32 with sfr and the best I can doo is 2nd.,,
 
I couldn't get past 2nd with a fully maxed R32 Vspec with an hour or so of suspension tuning - for reference i have all gold in the licences

Used the 09 V-Spec and had no problem taking the win the first time using it.

By the time you buy the R35 and put 80k in mods on it you are still ahead CR wise, just do it.
 
Ended up borrowing a stock 07 GT-R from my brother and beat the GT on the first try by 2.2 seconds. Almost feel silly spending over 100K on the older car and all that time tuning. Oh well, at least now I can drive SSR5 with my eyes closed!!

Now its on to the next set....I love these seasonal events, always feel like you are racing. Havent touched A-Spec since Ive started these. Keep em coming PD.

Why would a lighter car not be able to compete just because its older? Either the r35 is totally overly well made in the game, like Nissan paid pd to make it so or perhaps the r32 was overrated in real life?

Thing is I know from Golding this event with r35 v spec with basic mods like sports suspension etc and no SFR I know exactly where I need to be in relation to the AI cars in the first ³ corners and I can't get close to where I need to be with r32 with SFR Ion or off. Even into the first tunnel at the start I'm further behind with the same HP and more mods. Its rigged I'm sure.

The new GTR stomps on the older models, it was built to handle the power it outputs, which is why the older models aren't as easy to win with. I was using an R32 and made it to fifth, was confused as to why I was having so much trouble and I got a spec V '09 and won with a little bit of fight. The newer model doesn't need much in the way of tuning to win either, commands superior mechanical grip as opposed to the older cars, but it is heavier but gets better power output.
 
But if i put racing suspension, twin clutch, the right transmission into an R32 and do the weight reduction then im sorry but in no way do i lose out so much time/speed into the first corner compared the float boat that is the R35!?

To me, in real life the fastest thing about the R35 GTR was that it has a double clutch or something which means that when accelerating it will accereate at a relatively unbroken rate wheras other cars may slowdown slightly for a 1/4 of a second whist the clutch engages.

This is exemplified in Evo magazines plot charts which shows the accel as being a smooth upwardly line wheras other cars have a line which goes up and then levels off whilst they change gear.

And as for the mechanical grip etc i know what you mean.

But when i fit race suspension and race whatever to my R32 are we saying that putting racing spec components onto this car and it will wont be as fast (with the same HP remmeber) as the R35? i just dont buy it. IF id just whacked up the BHP so that it was identical but left everyuthing else alone i would agree with you. However this is not the case in the game. Which tells me that racing spec suspension and adding all these transmission things dont work properly in the game?

And if its true that the R32 can never make such grip even with race suspension this loops back to my point, why do PD let us enter a car they know can never win?
 
You can win with the other cars, but it will be hard to do. None of the other GTR's can match the R35's acceleration and power output, especially when cornering. I will refresh my R32's rigidity as I haven't done that yet and have a go at it again. My R32 even with weight reduction and power still couldn't best the R35's straight line speed. Technology has come a long way since then, so it will be much harder to win with the older cars, but not impossible...well it is for the pre 90's skylines, lol. But it's just a challenge, not every car can win challenges set before it. If they left it open and changed cars according to what you selected, would you complain about cars not being able to win even though they are allowed to enter? Don't read too deeply into it, it's just a challenge to see creative way people can win.
