As you might know, installing the game on the console HDD may cause some random audio pop&crackle.

Following a hunch, I've installed the game on a USB stick. And so far so good. Loading times are about the same as from the internal HDD install (read : much faster than from DVD), and the audio scratches seems to be gone (2h of play, gonna test some more).

Beware though, there are some very slow USB stick out there, so loading times may vary depending on the USB stick used.

If my understanding is correct, this workaround should also work with a USB HDD.

I haven't heard any audio pop and crackle yet (I did hear it in FM3) but I first heard this weekend the sound's LFE going away mid race a few times. Strange..

Game's installed to OEM X360 HDD slim

Sound or music ? Music LFE is modulated according to acceleration/deceleration.

I installed FM4 to USB on day one. I may have heard some pop twice since racing. Other than that I haven't heard it as it seems others have. Seems people here are hearing it multiple times per race, at least that's the way it's conveyed. I haven't heard it but once or twice. And the times I did hear it was going through TV speakers. Don't think I've heard it yet when going through my surround sound.

Yeah, when installed on HDD it can be very frequent, multiple times per LAP. Depends on the event and track though. Seems to be more frequent with multiple cars, on Hockenheim or Indianapolis. And rewinding seem to amplify the scratches even more.

Sound. I don't race with music on. The umpff of the game's audio like the cars racing would be normal sounding and then somewhere for a lap or so would go to a 'lower' sound altogether midrace missing the umpff it had. It happened 2-3 times this weekend only.

I also race without rewind on. Funny thing is this weekend I wish I did. Was doing a Trueno 5lap race on Mugello full and I was a good 20ish seconds in front of the pack. Took the final turn no problem and I thought I was going straight, took my eyes off the screen for a second and when I came back on my car clipped the pit wall head on causing major engine and tranny failure... ended up losing the race lmao

I've never experienced any noticable audio glitch, and I've had the HDD install since October. I'm no sound-system/home-entertainment-system geek, but I do sometimes play with headphones to allow the Mrs. to sleep.

Have we ruled out console age yet? I have a black fat Elite (my 2nd Xbox), not an older 360 or the new "slim"/wedge thing.

Yeah , for the record I turned off music while racing on day one.
Even if it was great, there's not a lot of it to cycle through. The menu music is acceptable, if repetitive, but the bland, soulless electronica and dubstep-ish WOMP WOMP WUWUWUWUWUW crap got old really quickly.

I really need to stop being too lazy to set up a USB stick with mp3s. :indifferent:

Me too and I don't think I've ever heard this popping/clicking.
