The more you drift in a turn the slower you go. It's simple. If you don't drift you go faster.

I agree, speed drifting is VERY chalenging, but NOT FASTER.
 
1:28 drifting all corners with my trueno SS. oh as for speed drifting, I think its more presistant. you make less errors than gripping. but you must know not to over use drift.

It depends on what kind of touge battles you are talking about. There are some that focus on drifting and some that focus on the timing. Sometimes it is better to drift some corners to go faster than gripping the same corner, but that depends.

It is hard to say for sure, but in general drifting is slower than gripping.

There was a thread about drift vs. grip. It all goes down to the skill of the driver ;)
