Hey just wanted to say, that website dosn't work anymore. It sucks cause i used to go to it alot.

PSJ is down because it is not Bryce's main focus right now. He was offered a nice hosting plan so he switched hosts and he just never got around to putting PSJ back up.

Scanlines and grids are very popular nowadays - here's a couple of EASY ways to create them (bear with me if you already know these tips).

Grids:

Create a new PS file about 10 pixels by 10 pixels. Now use the Pencil Tool to draw a gray 1 pixel line across two adjacent sides (i.e. top and left sides). Now find the menu selection called "Define Pattern" (I think it's in the Edit Menu or closeby). Name the pattern and you're done.

To use it, all you need to do is select and area or layer and then use the "Fill" command, selecting your newly created Grid Pattern.

By creating initial files of varying sizes (i.e. 5 x 5 or 15 x 15) or using lines of varying thickness, you can create many different grid patterns.

If you want to change the grid color, all you have to do is select the grid and adjust layers or color balance.

Scanlines:

Create a 2 pixel (high) by 1 pixel (wide) file in Photoshop. Fill one of the pixels with a color and define it in a pattern. That's all there is to that.
