Power and Speed events

I just got the game for Christmas, and am reading manual that is tucked in the cover. I noticed that in the events sub-section of the Gran Turismo Mode section, sixth in the list, is an event type known as 'Power and Speed'. I have tried looking for this series online, but found nothing. And for clarity, it isn't the extreme series as it is also featured in the manual. Here is the description of Power and Speed:
Power and Speed: Participate in events designated for high output, high performance cars.
If anyone has an idea on what it could be or what it means, that would be a huge help.

Power and Speed is in the top right corner of the map, they aren't events though, it's just where you can test your cars acceleration and speed.
