Simple yet philosophical question, do you tune a cars power to the way it handles or modify the handling of the car to how much power it has.

At the first moment i used to tune my cars for the slowest handling, but with larger oversters and angle controls. Stiffer springs, lower dampers, ridiculously low anti-roll, things like that. Then i realized that 99,9% (im not judging, its a fact) prefer to keep their cars faster, but holding smaller angles. Not because they dont like high angles, but because they feel the need for keep the pace with their mates. Everyone goes faster, so everyone needs to go even faster, and so on...

After then, and specialy after start to train using the chase cam (a.k.a. 3rd person view) i started to re-work all my cars to bring a better grip feel of the car and less "floating hovercraft". Im more happy now, specialy for that banked situations where the car used to graple the inside of the corner and overspins.

Hehehehe... i guess i didn´t answered the question. By standard i always tried to max the engine performance and then work on the handling based on this performance. Now im more on a half term, hardly i tune my cars above 550hp, but also i accept the fact that CH is not slick at all, then i try to get the biggest grip from the tires as possible, but never sacrificing the drifting extension.

Finaly, as i use too many diferent cars, i try to bring all them to a default handling feel and torque respoonse feel, so i have less time to adapt myself.

Cars like the AE86 I leave completely standard

On the other hand the FT-86 G I have has about 300 something hp (almost stock power) and set it up to drift to low power

I start with A nice spring setup, then if I feel It needs more power I give it a racing exhaust or a supercharger maybe.

D1GP cars or the TC cars I always modify the handling setup instead of the power as the cars have plenty of torque and power in the first place

I like power, so i tune to control the engine. Although my best drifter has no engine/power upgrades lol

I've got a bad habit of max-tuning every damn car I buy! It's really annoying. The extra BHP helps push that back end out or gaining space during tandems, but I love lower power drifting.

With my new DFGT, I've found that leaving the suspension and diff stock make the car handle perfectly.

In the meantime for me, I honestly do a combo. I tune the car up to max HP and then I tune the suspension to my liking. Along with adjusting gear ratios to make them shorter.

I like power, so i tune to control the engine. Although my best drifter has no engine/power upgrades lol

When you say "tune to control the engine" is that trying to keep RPM's at optimum or a high range?
