Power/Weight Ratio don't add up?!

Hi guys,

I purchased myself a 2009 Corvette ZR1 and decided to play around with tuning it. However, I realized that the power/weight ratio in the game doesn't add up to what I punch in the calculator. I know depending on the car's mileage, HP will be affected. So I did an oil change and made it completely stock. According to GT5, these were the performance figures of the ZR1. Power: 653HP, Weight: 1508kg. So based on my calculation, I should be getting 2.30kg/HP. However, GT5 is reporting this figure at 2.27kg/HP?! Is there an error in the game's calculation? Or are the power and weight units actually not displayed correctly? Could 653HP actually be 653PS which equals 644HP? And at 644HP, the power/weight ratio definitely doesn't even add up anywhere close to GT5's value of 2.27kg/HP!! Anyone experiencing this as well?? Hope someone can help and explain what's going on here...

Thanks in advance,
Freddy

0.03 of a difference and you're bothering us with this? Dude seriously, go outside and do something else!

I find this topic to be perfectly valid.

There is a lot going on with the numbers behind the scenes in GT5, loads of factors altering the stats of the cars. It might well be that the guy who programmed this based the PWR calculation on a different figure, thus the discrepancy.

We're all inside posting on a message board for a video game. These sorts of comments only make you look silly.

On topic, there are a ton of bizarre calculation errors, and mismatching numbers depending on the screen you're viewing. I'd like to hear more about these discrepancies but I don't see PD doing that.

I'll argue that the second part of his post is immature and "silly". The first part is true. 0.03 difference is not noticeable and could come down the the computer using more decimal places to do it's calculation.

I'm wondering if maybe it's basing it on a fully-broken in engine. That would equate to 664 HP ...

... or, maybe, because it's used, that's the figure it would be if you did an engine overhaul ?

I'm merely pointing out that if he has time to worry about such a small discrepancy, if it was a number more like 1 out or something like that then fine, but 0.03 is ridiculous. I wish I only had such a small discrepancy in my life to worry about.

Oh and btw, you calculated wrong ... You should of got 2.30.9 so you should actually have 2.31 not 2.30 ... Hope that helps :/

I know this doesn't exactly relate to this topic, but another figure that I cant understand is the corner count in the course maker. Its always seems to display more corners than I can count.

Maybe these kind of things will get fixed in the future, but untill then knowing these figures are off a bit is good to know.

@HigGT: If you can't be bothered in your life about small discrepancy, why bother correct my calculation with only a 0.009 difference?? Your comments dont do you any good but only to make a fool of yourself!

For everyone else, thanks for your responses. I just bought this game and this was just one calculation discrepancy I spotted and wanted to see if Im the only getting this. Didn't realize there are actually numerous of other calculation errors in the game. I thought someone might know the reason behind the difference in calculation, be it with a different unit of power used, condtion of the engine etc. Might be simply down to calculation error but till then it's a mystery..
