Would anyone else welcome the introduction of a PP Race within Practice Mode? By that I mean you choose any car out of your garage and the game selects 11 other cars all around the same PP, therefore giving you a decent race.

The Seasonal are great but they only allow you to use a small selection of your garage. I'm sure I'm not the only one thats got loads of cars sat in my garage that don't get used?

Apart from the Seasonals, there aren't really any challening races on the game and the 'One Make' race is just a waste of time.

I'd love to be able to pick any car from my garage and enter it into a race and it actually be a close, enjoyable one. If I fancy a go in my 216PP VW Beetle then I'd like it to be in a race against other cars that are of a similar standard and not one where I'm left for dead because I've only got 32BHP. Similarly, if I want to have a go in my 688PP Zonda then I'd like it to be in a close, competetive race instead of one where I just romp away from everyone on the first lap.

I know its not likely that this'll be introduced into the game but I would love to see it. So many cars in my garage that are unused :(

You mean like arcade mode? =/

What I was going to say, lol.

And I think Arcade Mode bases the AI on tyre selection as well. You can make the races closer by using a lower tyre compound to the AI.

But there's a thread round here somewhere about getting the best races out of Arcade Mode. This is basically what you're looking for.

Have a look through this thread. Haven't looked through it all myself, but might be a good start:

I just searched Arcade Mode in thread titles under the GT5 forums. There's plenty others though.

Even if 100 cars wasn't enough for you (how...? my favourites list has a rather generous 30 cars and I don't use like 10 of them most of the time.), you can very easily go back to GTlife and change your favourites list.

And what do you mean "It's only Easy, Medium or hard"?

Would you prefer Easy, Bit harder, Medium, Sorta hard, Hard?

:)

Also, you can do what you specify on Course Maker tracks, which I find bizzare that you can't do it with, for example, Circuit de Spa Francorchaps, which they spent far longer modeling.

It would be easier if you could select anything from your garage without having to go into GT Mode, select it as a favourite, and then go into Arcade.

It's 2 rather short load screens, it's not that much harder.. but how are you even using 100 cars?

How exactly do you use so many different cars that you find it would be a hassle to go through a couple loading screens to change which ones you can use.

I'm sorry but I'm baffled by that notion

But Arcade Mode is completely separate from GT Life and can be played independently of GT Life. For example if you just bought the game, didn't play in GT Life and have no cars and played in Arcade mode you would be able to drive the cars that are available in Arcade mode, which are fully stock.

Technically though, what you want is not in the game, so you should really be posting this in a wish-list thread. We've given you a viable alternative until an "Event Creator" of some sort is added in an update (highly unlikely as there is Arcade Mode) or in GT6.

If you drove each car for 5 minutes it would take you.. 8 and a quarter hours? rough math when tired is rough.

How after 8 and a half hours of driving (Assuming only 5 minutes per car of course) is 10-15 seconds of loading time a hassle

I don't use 100 cars because there aren't any races that are competitive enough to use them in. Like I said, I want to be able to race against similar PP cars, if I could do that, I'd use all of my cars. I've never found myself up against similar spec cars in arcade mode. It's hardly a couple of quick load screens either, the load times in this game are painful!

Then perhaps you should install the game data like the game suggests when you first run it.. the load times are incredibly short for me.

Arcade mode puts me up again very similar PP range cars and if you drop your tyres down a grade you get an added challenge.

If you don't use 100 cars then why are you complaining about not having ready access to the cars you want to drive........................

OR if you want to race the same car in spec races use Practice Mode.

I would use all my cars if I could. Like I said, in my experience, when I've used Arcade mode, the cars I've been up against haven't been of a similar spec. I admit though, it's been a very long time since I used it. Thank you for the link but the first post seems to suggest detuning my cars to completely stock? That sort of defeats the object of using my own cars?

My game is installed, has been since the day I got it, I find the load times incredibly frustrating though.

I'm not sure why your load times would be so slow, mine are barely worth mentioning at the worst of times.

I just went into Arcade mode now with my stock AE86 Levin and got a list of cars very close in PP, quite a few of them were more powerful if anything.

I didn't race against them since racing against AI isn't my thing outside of seasonals so I couldn't tell you how challenging they are but the system as it is does what you're asking for.

IE, matching opponents PP to your car.

And assuming your garage list in your sig is up to date, if you drove every car you own for 5 minutes each that would take 27 and a half hours of solid driving.

I think the time taken swapping your favourites list would be comparatively short wouldn't you say?

Not really. It's because the AI in Gran Turismo is hopeless at best, that gives them more of an edge.

I'd imagine it's referring more to the power of the car than your tuning settings.

Other than that - See below

Well I obviously wouldn't race all my cars in one session! Agree about the AI, it's useless. I want more races like the seasonals but without the specific theme. Although the AI in the seasonals is still useless, they are at least a good challenge. I've even tried giving the AI a 15-30 second head start in Arcade. Have they updated it at all in a software update?

What people seem to do is set the specs that they want in settings sheet 2 for the AI that they want to race against, then once the AI have been selected based on those choices, people change the settings in the race screen to lower the PP/change tyres etc. to make for a harder race.

The systems not perfect granted, but using this method it can be made better.

This right here is exactly my point, the favourite system is just fine because there's no way in hell you're ever going to drive 100 cars in one session, even driving them just for 5 minutes each there goes most of your day.

Agree about the AI, it's useless.
I don't see why you don't just start racing online, the AI is only going to challenge you only under certain circumstances that you're going to need to induce yourself. Putting rubbish tires on your car is a good example of this.

The AI in seasonals is only a 'challenge' because the leader starts nearly a full lap ahead of you on certain tracks.

Have they updated it at all in a software update?
I couldn't tell you, I don't exactly have patch notes on my desk.

Just gone into Arcade mode to test this using my Lotus Evora and I'm up against the following grid;

Veyron
Cerbera Speed 12
Veyron
Cerbera Speed 12
Cerbera Speed 12
Cerbera Speed 12
Cerbera Speed 12
Veyron

Now it might well be a decent race but only 2 different cars?

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

It will be a good race, that's for sure. I hope it's not a race on SSRX....

No, it wasn't a good race really. All the Cerberas ended up in the last 7 places and the Veyrons were 2nd onwards, and there was only the car that finished 2nd that vaguely looked like a challenge. The Veyrons were much faster than me down the straight but I absolutely nailed them through the corners. That was on Professional difficulty aswell by choosing Racing Softs. I got a better race by choosing Sports Softs. Completely mixed grid with a McLaren F1, Ferrari Enzo, VW Nardo. Don't think there was the same car twice in that one.

I tried choosing Racing Softs again aswell after on a different track and ended up against nothing but Veyrons & Cerberas again.

Just gone to try a 3rd time aswell so I can take a pic and voila;

Because of how grippy you were through the corners the AI had no choice but to be on superior cars on the straights, the AI is too boneheaded to take corners quicker than a human can for the most part.

If you had a good line up with sports softs then run with those, but if you're the type that can't drive with anything less than racing I don't know what to tell you.

Yes 100. Thats enough is it not?

No, because you can have a 2000 car garage, so the favorites list should be 2000 at least.

There is no point to a 100 limit, no matter how many cars anyone uses.

This right here is exactly my point, the favourite system is just fine
Again no, pointless limits are not fine. GT makes it even worse by requiring you to have multiple copies of the same car because of things like permanent upgrades. The ability to go to GT Mode and change your favorites doesn't make up for anything. The list should be as long as needed.

I won't argue that the favourites list limit is a bit pointless.
I will however argue that it's not a massive deal to go back to your garage and change out the cars you want to use at any given time in Arcade Mode.

The system works just fine. It serves its purpose which is to give you faster access to a select number of cars.

I agree with him on this. One of the most frustrating things (technical aspects, not PD mistakes like the whole Premium/Standard car thing, for example) about the game is the load times. Maybe I just expect things to load quicker in this day and age.

I really don't know how people are getting slow loading times, mine seem to be fine and I have.. I think it's two years old now? the slim PS3 with 250g of space.

It's possible that we are seeing the same load times, but I just expect them to be shorter...hell, I think that 80% of the loading screens should go away completely.

*shrugs* maybe, but the loading times in the game are short even by my standards, which when I play on a high end gaming PC for everything other than Forza and GT5.. they're pretty high =P
