Why on earth did they spoil this game by putting in the Performance Points? I mean, it does have it's uses, like knowing with only a little of a doubt which cars are best... It kinda takes away from saying to people that your car is best... Like saying which one wins in a drag, Veyron or F1? Clearly the Veyron with more PP...

This is not to say that it was a terrible thing they did, as it keeps competitions more even, but it takes away a more in depth element of the game. Anyone else agree? What's your opinion?

It's just a number, the result of a formula. It's there to add more restriction options to races.

It doesn't necessarily mean higher pp cars are faster than lower ones.

I beat cars with better PP's all the time, what's the problem?

Actually, it's just a more advanced version of the HP limits in previous GT versions.

If you know your car & what you can & can't do, just take it from there.

I just feel like it generalizes things... It is a great system for competition... And yes you can beat higher pp cars with lower pp cars.

It just takes away from the more in depth aspect of getting to know your car, and how fast it is... You can more readily makes assumptions like the Veyron is faster than the F1... Just by looking at it, not driving it at all... Just bugs me is all.

It's hands down on the best additions to GT ever. If you want to get to know your car, go drive it, PP doesn't tell you a thing about how it drives, how much understeer it has, has much grip off the line it has, whether it shifts in 10 ms or 10 years, or whether it's only possible to find useable power on a knife edge of the power curve or if the engine responds where ever.

Seeing as PP doesn't take into account tuning and tire choice, among other things, I don't really see how one could make those assumptions, unless one was new to the game.

Just take it for what it is: a general idea of the car's performance, not a comparison standard.

PP takes into account how well the car corners and brakes. Not just who can win in a drag race.

Not picking a fight, but I don't think it does directly. Changing the suspension kit or setup doesn't change it. I think it's a mix of power to weight ratio and down force.

I personally find the Performance Point system very useful. It helps keep a pretty level playing field when doing races and almost acts as a "neutralizer".

As mentioned in another thread I would like to see it expanded to include classes/tiers.

I think the PP system is fairly accurate and useful when comparing and choosing cars (with the exception to the fireblade and other super lightweight cars).

Isn't it already kind of classed?

400PP - fun but not fast
500PP - semi fast
600PP - Fast
650PP+ Super Fast

That's how I see it anyways.

I mean officially. As I said in another thread last night, you can go online and whilst some might stick to those limits you can set it to anything, so someone could have a 460PP room, then next a 485PP, one a 300PP, one a 295PP etc etc.

I would like to see some set classes, so basically finish copying the other game and add them so we can all build cars to those classes and always have something competitive to go racing with.

When PP came out, I was hoping that rookies would stop posting messages like: "What the best car, lol".

Sadly, it didn't.

I use the PP for what it's for, to tell you what to expect from a car, compared to the HP and weight, at least, for me.

Isn't drag racing always like that, car with higher numbers wins?

What the PP system has added is a way to level the playing field. You can have a 500pp sports hard room and people can have a balanced race in 10 different cars. I can't see how it "kills" anything.

You mean about a year ago when PDI added PP?

I really don't mind the PP's, it's really helpfull especially when doing online races.

Performance points help to create a benchmark in game, as so many factors affect what makes a 'good' car.

For example:

Car A has 500 hp and weighs 1700kg
Car B has 500hp and weighs 1200kg

It's obvious that car b has the upper hand, however with the pp regulations in order to balance them car b would have to reduce the power.

PP came out later after GT5 was first out. I like it, we had something like it in GT4, the power/wt ratio. It helps in looking for the range of power in a sea of cars. If you don't like it, ignore it, problem solved
