Preference on online drift rooms...

Hello, I would like to take this time to show case my reasons on why I seem to prefer joining the "others" international online drift rooms over u.s. rooms.

One of my pet peeves are drift rooms with no point system. Lately, most u.s. drift rooms seems to cater to the folks who enjoy bit of competition, as far as point system goes. Hence the reason why I have been playing in other country drift rooms (specifically Japanese rooms). Most Japanese drift rooms I've joined did not turn on the point system, and rather enjoyed drifting without it.

Another reason for joining the Japanese drift room is due to common courtesy( the Japanese usually seem to say they are sorry if they collided, or accidently did something to cause a wreck etc.). I have noticed their rooms have far fewer incidents of obnoxious players who try their best to ruin others play session (bumping, calling names, driving wrong way etc.). Also, so far, the room owners in those rooms were quick to kick those who tried to cause ruckus.

I realize some may say, "create your own cruise room so no point system will be present. You are right, I could make one. But sadly, I play at odd hours and most of my friends are not on at those hours, and my past tries to create rooms did not go as planned since not many joined (Maybe due to no point system? ).

Not every session of joining foreign rooms were positive. Partly because some would rather not have another player from long away hinder their connection (via lagging etc.), or automatically thinks every American players will presumably be an butt-hole and get the boot as soon as you join.

This had been a vague opinion of mine and I fully understand that there are good u.s. rooms and at times with no point system. Just wanted to share my experience about joining other country server rooms. Please share yours if you have anything to say that relates to this thread. Thanks on advance.

We use the points rooms so we can have more steering lock but to avoid the points drive backwards. Most people say MB if they hit you seem to be joining just random drift Lobbys and they aren't very nice in there. Try joining some of the Teams Lobbys.

I suppose the tandem suzuka track rooms and those rooms who touge that slide particular parts of the track are the exceptions. Other than that, you really don't want to be driving the other way of the traffic flow unless you want to get kicked. I'll try to check out rooms labeled with their teams. Usually I figured those rooms are reserved for their members and friends but I guess it won't hurt to join and ask if one can drift with them. Thanks for your input. Happy drifting!

P.s. I did not know that having the point system feature on made a difference to the steering lock mechanism. I guess you do learn something new everyday...or so. ; D

Also, I tend to turn off my hud or race display, doing so removes the points counter, and the ticking that goes with it. Extra caution should be taken though, as you wont have a map, so checking traffic flow is a little harder.

Most teams don't mind random people joining so long as they don't hinder the environment, and doing so will help get your name out there aswell.

Basic man rules. Rear wheel drive cars only on comfort hard tires. No driving aids on at all with abs optional. Lobby needs to be set on drift or free mode

Personally, all my drift cars have CH tires. But, if someone feels they prefer to use different sets of threads on their tires, I do not see the big deal, unless it is a competition that requires specific tires for authentic vibe.
I recall using one of the tunes from a person that churns out alot of wangan vehicles, and his FC had sports tires on it. I tried it out in a room and few people were giving me a hard time because it wasn't running on CH lol. And, the rooms description did not notify people that all cars had to have CH.

rule of thumb, if you see everyone in the room running CH you should probably follow suit 👍

I usually go into Practice rooms instead of going into rooms that say pro or League. Hone you're craft and don't have to deal with people that go into Lobby's thinking their good but end up crashing into people. learn to respect other people and they will do the same in return

I don't really care how the lobby is set up initially because once they ask if we should switch tracks, that's when I suggest: boost off, grip and slip real. Not necessary though.

Two things I hate:

Abs off
mics disabled

It's not like you have to set the lobby that way if you're a non abs user, so why set it that way?

Same for disabling mics. Don't ask me for a tune or help and not enable mics. This guy threatened to kick me because I wouldn't type full explanations or my tune, yet he wouldn't enable mics. I want to spend my sometimes limited amount of time driving, not constantly stopping to explain techniques.
