I rarely use the cockpit view, but on most Premium cars I've used so far I tried it at least once.

Yesterday I tried for the first time the Premium '05 Mini Cooper S (supercharged version) and to my surprise I discovered that in the cockpit view the engine sound is muffled (as it should be in real life), compared to the "bumper" view. So far no other Premium cars I tried had this realistic effect.

Are there other Premium cars with a significant engine sound difference between the bumper view and the cockpit view? Minor differences such as differently perceived audio position don't count.

I was racing the Yaris race last night and noticed that when the other cars around me the sound of my own car's engine drops to inaudible. I don't know if this is the same thing you mean but it's a point to be noticed.

No, I didn't mean that. This effect happens regardless of opponent cars. It is really noticeable on the Premium '05 Mini Cooper S.

get in any car in rl and tell me if its louder inside than out
why dont people understand 99% of cars made past the 80's are sound sealed.. heck luxury cars push that too

^^^^ I was in a new 3 series a few months ago and flooring it from 0-70 mph wasn't loud at all. Engine noise was barely audible.

OP
To me, it seems that it has been this way for months, if not at the beginning.

The question was: which premium cars in GT5 have a muffled engine sound in the cockpit view?

Not:
- Is it so in real life?
- Has it been introduced with a recent patch?

Most if not all have this effect. Like other things some cars are more extreme than others. As far as I know it's been this way since the beginning.

No, most don't. In the cockpit view you usually hear the same engine mechanical whoosh that can be heard in the bumper view rather than the muffled, booming sound that this car shows. Right now I'm testing other cars that are supposed to have in real life a quiet soundproofed interior and none of them (that I tried so far) shows the difference that can be heard in the '05 Mini Cooper S (and really, there's no reason at all for this car to have better soundproofing than other ones)

Get a Premium '05 Mini Cooper S and listen to the difference between the "bumper view" (NOT the chase cam or the roof cam) and the cockpit view. Oh, and you have to be sure it's the 2005 model, because the '07 one does not sound muffled in the cockpit view.

I tried the mini and yes I notice this effect. My point is many premium cars have a small difference between the bumper and cockpit view, it's just pd decided to make this difference much more noticeable in the 2005 mini cooper.

Do you use Television speakers or a headset? I used a headset and can notice a pretty significant difference in engine noise in every premium car I drive. I'll try out the Cooper as well as other cars, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that I can tell a pretty big difference between cockpit view and the others.

The Toyota Yaris or Vits as I think it's known in the game. It's very difficult to hear when to shift because the engine sounds like a phone vibrating rather than a mechanical motor.

I think this is true. Every car is crafted to a certain extent. Some models have true to life "mechanics" and others don't even have their true to life top speed.

Does it bother you?
No, actually I find this realistic. I've always found that most Premium cars in GT5 lacked the typical muffling and exhaust component predominance of the engine sound that can typically be heard in real life inside a road car.

On most cars the difference is very small. I think I asked clearly in my opening post that if there are other cars where there's a noticeable difference instead.

I use AKG k240s headphones on a 0204 USB DAC, hooked to the PS3 stereo analog output with the "Small Theater" sound option in GT5, and most cars don't have a "pretty big difference" between the cockpit view and the bumper cam. Disregard the roof cam and the chase cam, because I'm not referring to them, as they obviously sound different.

This has nothing to do with the effect I described in the opening post. Anyway, to be sure, I just tried the Premium Toyota Vits 1.5 RS and there's the same almost insignificant difference that most cars (except the '05 Mini Cooper S, it seems) shows.
