Premium Suggestion....

I was on another site just now which offers a premium subscription.

One of the ways in which you can pay for this is using SMS from your mobile/cell phone. It seems very easy and just comes out of your bill/credit. I would definatley use this on GTP (as i don't have a credit card), and I am sure many others would.

Is this a feasable idea? How difficult would it be to set up?

I've actually never heard anything about such a service, but it does sound like a clever idea. If you could direct me to the site you're referring to I would like to look further into it.
 
The site I am looking at is http://f1-tm.com although i think you have to register before you can get to the subscription area.

I have seen other sites do this as well, although I can't recall which ones they were at the moment.
 
www.runescape.com offers subscription via SMS too.

That would be an awesome idea and I for sure would use it seeing as I'm only 16...
 
If GTP had that I'd be premium before you could say 'monkey!'.
 
Would SMS have to go through a Local network/subscription service provider ?

The only drawback is you may have to go through more than one provider and that would complicate any automation.
 
but can you put enough into your phone to cover the monthly subscription to GTP?
 
Easily. I could put enough into mine to cover at least 6 months...i think.

I would also be back on premium like a shot if this service was offered. Specially as the other methods are a bit more difficult for myself.
 
Well I put on 20 quid a month so I think I should be covered..
 
That is an awesome idea! That would really make GTPremium more accessible to a lot of members. Including me. :D

I fully agree. ;)

The other additional benefits of this method are that if you are with T-mobile (not sure about other UK networks) in the UK and you pay for an annual subscription via SMS, you will have your calls at 10p/minute in an instant :D.
 
These certainly do look like good services and I would love to implement them here. However, I'm hesitant to go to the trouble and expense of joining one of these services. Talk is cheap (and SMS payments are...not), but if more of you would commit to using such a payment method I will consider it more seriously.
 
Assuming that people outside of the US can use the service, I’d use it. IIRC, the site that DQuaN mentioned only accepts SMS payment from the UK…

I would commit to using such a payment method. I'd have a premium membership month after month without fail. 👍
