For a certain project I'm in need of votes and opinions. Your present mobile phone, to which price range does it belongs ? And what are your plans for your next phone. Why is it that you bought/will buy a phone in such a range ? and last but not least, what are your expectations on mobile technology ? VOTE & REPLY

$250 was what I bought it for I believe. Its a casio GZ-One Commando. Basically you can't break this thing cuz it's waterproof and shockproof and thats why I bought it.

Got mine for free, though cost $40.41 NZD, which is about 31.12 USD.

Is this including contract discount or not? Retail on my phone is close to $600 at launch.

EVO 4G. Large screen, 1ghz phone. Use it for reading pdf's, mobile net, most communications, media and streaming services as well. It gets used a lot and is basically a stand in for a netbook a lot of time (which is only getting used for programming on campus now)

Camera quality is going to be something considered with my next phone. Really would like to take sufficient shots on the fly, as I don't always want to pull my dSLR out for a snapshot.

Samsung Galaxy S which was close to $500 retail at launch. I paid nothing for it on my 3 year contract renewal. I got it because it was (in my opinion) the best smartphone I could get for free or near free at the time.

Next phone will be with my next hardware upgrade for free again, I've never paid for the phone itself always free.

Mobile technology will always constantly evolve and I believe they've only started with them.

Mine was £70 so I'm thinking around $100 ish, not sure what the exchange rate is. LG Town GT350 is black and silver :)

Thanks to CMvan46 and Azuremen, the only ones who gave my quality feedback. I was wondering if I could ask both of you an opinion about a future project in mobile phones and social networking. It won't take much of your time. :)

In the UK at launch an iPhone 4 was £499, which in USD is $776, apparently.

But then I'm on a contract and got £80 cashback... and then another £80 cashback which they gave me accidentally, so I don't think that's my real figure.

Oh and as for my next phone, not sure. I've had mine for a year and I'm perfectly happy with it to be honest - the 4S is enticing, but there's nothing about it that would make me sell all my worldly goods to have one.

I bought in this range because I was actually looking for a 3GS, but couldn't find one anywhere in 16GB size for a reasonable price. So I just bit the bullet and went for a contract with Vodafone on a 16GB 4 - partly because they were nearly the cheapest, partly because they offer femtocells, and partly because I found a cashback scheme for them.

My expectations are a little skewed - mine gets used more as an iPod sitting in a dock than as an actual phone most of the time, so to be honest my expectation from any upgrade would be 'is it an iPhone?'. If I were moving away from the Jobs tree, probably camera and battery life are top of my concern. In fact definitely battery life - if mine wasn't in a dock most of the day I'd probably forget to charge mine as it is.

I bought mine from a Columbian guy as iPhones were unavailable in China at the time which is daft because they're made here.

It came from Miami originally when the iPhone was first out. He sold it to me a few months later for 3000RMB, not sure what that is in $ though.

I've had it for years now and it does malfunction from time to time so I'll be buying the iPhone 4 sometime soon.

I got an LG Rumor Touch. Perfect touch screen phone since I can browse the web and do normal phone stuff with it. Works well for me even if it's one of those resistive touch screen phone types(Which has minor touch screen problems). The Touch screen problems were fixed when I got a Amzer Anti-Glare Screen Protector and really helped keep fingerprints and scratches away(The protector is scrtached from my fingernail but it's hardly noticeable and has not gone through the protector). My ability to control the touch screen was improved drastically when I got the screen protector and oh yeah I use Opera Mini for my web browsing needs since the Sprint browser is trash. The phone cost me $0 with a contract but the prices range from $65 to $230 on google. Pretty good phone that's between basic and smartphone in my mind and I don't want to upgrade yet.

my Galaxy S retailed for around 400 EUR when I first got it, so voted for $400-$550
