Doesn't that kind of stuff get stored on HDs rather than the disk itself?

Yes it does - your HDD!. Say you register the game with your PSN username and password, how is the next guy going to use it? You could leave a note inside the game with your PSN details on it... Get it? I don't think its that obvious though - you don't have to enter your details, as the registration (I think) uses some other method that uniquely identifies your PS3. Besides, how many other PS3 games do you have to register online? There must be something fishy going on! :odd:

PES 2008 = Biggest joke in town. Thank god COD4 is a blinder - I needed a game to make me a believer!

I think it's best to just download World Soccer Winning Eleven. I'm having tons of fun playing the demo over and over and over. Once you master the engine, it's pretty neat. Attacking play is extremely improv-like compared to older games, however. I'm finding players all over the place sometimes.

I think the graphics are pretty good. They are certainly next-gen compared to WE9, but they're definitely not top-tier.

The only thing I really don't like is how opposing strikers can just literally run through your defense. CPU zone pressure is laughable.

I have the game on the 360 and after playing it for a few weeks I can actually see quite a few improvements. As previously mentioned in this thread my main gripe is defenders running off in all directions and not closing attackers down. Scoring seems to be harder and I actually find myself passing back to try and free some space for my players which I never used to do in previous versions. I can see why some people hate it, but if you look a bit further into the gameplay it's actually very good.

But if he puts the disk into his PS3, then won't it treat it like new? I can't see how the disk remembers your data. So I can't see how selling it 2nd hand would be a problem.

I dunno how it works. Maybe each disc has a unique number on it, I dunno. I'll have a look around the 'dubyah, dubyah, dubyah' and get back to you...

I'm glad to see some of the comments in this thread because I thought I was imagining things for a moment...

I've never played PES on any format before, and have always been a FIFA player myself. But from the PES 2008 demo on the PS3, I've been very unimpressed by the game. Perhaps it's not a fair reflection on previous titles, but when you'd rather play FIFA 2002 on the PS2 than PES on the PS3, warning bells should be ringing loud and clear. The graphics are not great, the gameplay is unsophisticated and predictable, and overall it doesn't come anywhere near recent FIFA games I've played on the Xbox (not even the 360, either!). There is no way on Earth that I'll buy this game, and I'm looking forward to a demo of FIFA '08 if such a thing is on the cards (or have I missed it already?)...

One thing I found most amusing/pointless is the music - it tells you the genre of the music, as if that is remotely useful or necessary! I thought "Oh thanks, so that's what techno is supposed to sound like, is it?" It's silly and not important, but when you are already looking at a demo and thinking "This is crap", things like this are just the icing on the cake...

^People say the Winning Eleven 11 demo plays much better than the PES 2008 on the PS3, maybe you should try that one.

If any of you are playing pes2008 still, stop and go buy Fifa 08, I have both and can safely say fifa is the better.

And no im not a fanboy, its just better.

you may be right, but one thing stops me from buy FIFA is the fact that I have to use the stick to control players, I can't use the stick in a football (soccer) game.:grumpy:
