Well me and SkylineGTRguy got my gaming rig up and running today, *using it now* lol, I installed HL2,CD,Madia,COD fine but when I install Sims 2 I get this error message "a problem occured when trying to transfer the file TSData\res\sims3d\sims08. package from the media". We installed the latest drivers for my 6800 ultra and drivers for my audigy 2 zs platinum, so what else could it be? Any tips would be appreciated.

RTFM.

Ask on a Sims forum.

If it cannot transfer a file, there's a chance that theres something wrong with the disc.

ok i just went to the sims site and they said that sometimes people get that error because the cd is spinning to fast. I put it in my dvd rw and its installing past when i got the error, so it should work now.

**edit**, the game was installed and runs good, just that it gave me an error after playing it a little saying this operation has crashed and will now terminate but its pretty common to get that every now and then I guess.

It probably just needs a patch or something to fix that problem.

My girlfriend has this and when we first got it, it wouldnt play. We found out we needed a new video card. But if you are running HL2 then I am sure its not the card. You should not get the error that you mentioned. Final question.
How fast does your camera move around the level when you go from Sim to Sim? Should be very fast with no lag or jittery movement at all.

I just tested the game out first time I got the error second time I didnt get it. But we did disable fastwrite in the bios, could this be the issue? But i'll try the latest patch and see if it does the trick, I mean all my other games work perfect so its just a patch or setting.

**edit** yeah the camera from sim to sim is really fast no lag whatsoever.

I had a file transfer error while installing, but my CD drive wasn't spinning too fast. I returned my game and exchanged it. My new game works perfectly. My disk was defective.

Well at least my cd isnt defective, it works fine. Some people on pcper.com say that if my computer is running a raid of hdd, or is overclocked it will sometimes it will do random crashes and be unstable, but I just have my raptor and 80gb and I had a bf1942 problem earlier (the video would lag) I reinstalled it and it works great. Sucks having these little problems here and there when you turn on a new computer but everything seems to work fine now. Just that when I play cs-source is pauses for like 1-3 seconds :) .

Well as you know I reinstalled sims 2 and it worked. then the next day it crashed on all my good games. I found out it was the latest drivers the 66.93 so I downloaded the 61.77 drivers because its more stable and now it doesnt restart my computer while in a game just pauses for a second or two every now and then. This should be fixed soon. 👍
