So I've run into a bit of a problem, I've got a cheap gaming surround sound system that I like to use for my computer. Yesterday I decided to also plug in my PS3 to have surround on that as well. As the surround sound system only has one set of input jacks, (component cables) I bought some adapter cables so I could plug both my computer and my PS3 in.

Here's where the problem comes in. The PS3, as far as I can tell, works fine regardless of what the computer is doing, but the sound coming out of the computer is very quiet unless the PS3 is turned on, or if I unplug the cables from the PS3 altogether.

Being kind of a strange problem makes it difficult to find answers online, so I figured one of you might know.

There is probably something wrong with the adapters.
I would suggest you to go back to the shop, and axplain your issue.
If new adapters still don't work, consider another brand.

Well my ps3 sounds louder then my pc regardless. But thats not a problem. Your issue could be what the above post said, Have you tried switching which side the ps3 and pc use on the adapter? Because even though your ps3 is turned off your adapter could still be porting half the wattage to your ps3, Try turning your ps3 from the back so its completely shut down maybe.

I've tried switching the wires around, and there's nothing wrong with the adapters. I bought 2 of them, and they both do the same thing, and they're good quality Monster cables.

I haven't tried completely switching off the PS3 though, I'll try that next.
