I hold a GT5 league on a different site, which when we started we had 6 of us, racing online week in and week out with no problems.

Tonight was the start of the second season. In the last two weeks i had a influx of 9 drivers taking the total to 15. So we all get online tonight and find that about 7 or 8 can not connect and we have to split the race into two groups.

Why is it we are having this problem. Do you guys who have big leagues running do things different.

Thanks

Try a different host.
Make sure everyone clears their cache before entering.
Make sure they all have connections dedicated to GT5 and aren't running other computers, Netflix etc. at the same time.
You can have problems sometimes with other countries not on your continent.
Pray a lot.
Curse Kaz.
Good luck.

Rooms larger than 10 have more problems. Multiply that by every mic and wheel being used, and the problema become immense.

Do a search for Game Killing Glitch. That thread has the details you seek.

Also, your room can only be as strong as the weakest connection. If someone is using wifi, you're typically doomed.

As a host, my connection is always at 99.9%. Since GT5 has been released, I can count on one hand how many times I have DC'd. (3 I think) But for online rooms it comes down to connection speeds and compatibility. If two people in the room have connections that are fighting with each other, they either won't be able to enter or won't be able to see each other on track. This can sometimes be fixed by having both of them exit the room and re-enter.

Like has been said, make sure nobody is using their connection for other things that take a lot of bandwidth. Clear cache, etc. Not sure if you use mics but that will cause issues too.

12 or less people in the lounge = better
Less mics = better
hard wire instead of wireless connections = better
hard wire mics instead of wireless mics = beter
Race quality on standard instead of "high" or better = better
mic quality on "low" or lower = better
mic quality "disabled" = best
the person at the top as "host" (even in a lounge) should be someone with the least amount of connection problems (ie: hardwire, no mic, reliable internet)

And as everyone else mentioned...
If the people participating have their internet being used for streaming, downloading/uploading, or by multiple people in the households on different computers & devices, etc. while they're racing... means everyone will suffer

To add, also sync your clock and trophies.

What does this mean?
And what does it do?

Set your clock via the internet. Then sync the trophies w/ Sony's server. It's believed that this either a) improves the handshake w/ GT servers, or b) awakens the demon inside the PS3.

Either way, it's been known to help.
