Problems with Firefox...

i use Mozilla firefox on my computer, but lately Mozilla has been refusing to work. I start it up, and it tells me that the connection has been reset whilst the page was loading. It also tells me: check my connection (all good, yahoo IM and IE work good) and to make sure My firewall wasnt blocking firefox (It wasnt, and mozilla was even set as system defualt) I ran a few spyware and adware programs, and did a virus scan, and nothing came up. does anyone have any further suggestions to how to fix this problem? (I am soo sick if IE right now, I gotta have my mozilla)

Have you made any changes to Firefox itself, its configuration or your extensions lately? This could be the cause of the problem. Try reinstalling Firefox and see if that helps.

Thanks for the help Machone and Amp88. I reinstalled firefox to the new beta, and the problem persists. I have also tried to do what machone suggested, but i am on dial-up :( I dont know whats up with firefox.. I guess it hates me lol

I think I've posted the same exact thing on another Firefox thread, but I too suggest Opera 9 before Mozilla and IE. It's an excellent browser with great features. It's also slightly less of a memory hog than Firefox (but I don't know how it compares to Mozilla)

Wow, this is odd. My FireFox Mysteriously began to work today. I did get rid of a trojan last night and thats about the only thing i can think of that would affect anything.. I think ill stick to FireFox, don't feel like downloading anything new right now.

MachOne,

"Internet Exploder"... "Winslows"... someone's not a fan of Microsoft I take it? ;) But yeah, Opera has Windows/Mac/Linux versions.

Silverzone,

Good to hear it's working fine now.

I only use MS for gaming compatibility. Whenever I get to college or need a laptop for other uses besides gaming, I will, without a doubt, go with OS X or whatever the current Mac OS will be at that time. I already hate Vista.

And how many people that say that actualy go through with it? Why not save your money now and buy a Mac sooner if you are so anti-Microsoft?

Or switch to Linux which you could do at any time. If it's really that bad you could find a way to not use Windows.

He's only using Windows for gaming, and he probably won't buy one now since he doesn't have use for a Mac.

But I do have to agree with MachOne, I thought Windows was okay, but when I got my Mac, I nearly went crazy when I needed to use my Dad's Windows laptop.

Again, you don't NEED a Mac laptop for college. A Windows based laptop would serve the purpose just fine. And don't say anything about crashing in the middle of note taking, either. I've been using XP Pro for about 3 years now and havn't had a single crash. If he doesn't have use for a Mac now, what difference will college make, unless he plans on doing graphic design or some jazz similar to that? Keep in mind that I'm not bashing the Mac OS. I own a blue/white G3 with OS 10.3 (or some other 10.x variant...can't remember right now) and I love it.

well, this is annoying. Firefox quit again. every time i attempt using it, it resets the connection.. I guess i may have to switch. im tired of messing with it. i just have to have something with tabs.
