Problems with GT5 freezing after 1.08

So I go to play GT5 last night and I get the 1.08 update. It had been a while since I last played (last I played was when 1.05 went live) and I got all the updates. Well now I can't even play because the game freezes as soon as a race starts. I tried deleting the patch data and re-installing the game with no luck.

What can I do to fix this?
