Problems with mobile site

This all started midday today:

1. When I am on the homepage and press Menu to get to the forums, the homepage simply reloads instead of the Menu "button" expanding to show the Forums link. I currently can only get to the forums by searching for the page on Google.

2. Videos posted in threads no longer seem to play - they are just black boxes with no preview/pressable action to load, etc. It was working just this morning.

This is all from my phone - I don't know about the regular version of the site.

EDIT: Everything I mentioned above appears to be working as normal today (1/24).

Same problems here. I use a Android DNA Phone with the Browser App, and The Youtube Videos dont work, you have to go to youtube to watch them.

Plus For me whenever im typing a reply, all the sudden it shoots up in the quoted text and decides to put the word i just typed in there then i have to remove it then try to fix it if not well then i have to mention the person just to let them know im replying to them

As you said Raven, It takes quite a long time just to transfer to a new tab (like clicking Forums) but it still works just takes time.

I do got to admit Jordan has done a GREAT job with this sit and he deserves a WHOLE bunch of credit! Great Guy!! Just like GT6 it takes time for the Updates to come out and improve the Site/Game

Thanks!

I have a Galaxy S3 and I get the same thing when typing replies. I've noticed, for me at least, it tends to do the cursor jump thing when I'm typing in a big reply and I use autocorrect or "swipe typing" (forget what they call it but it's when you swipe to the letters of the word all in one motion instead of typing).

Still, I love the interface - nice features and user friendly. It's just rather strange that the past 2 days it's gone into this weird can't use the menu and can't watch in-message videos thing. I forgot to mention, when it does whatever it's doing ;) the behavior of replies, likes, and alerts also changes:

1. The reply text box comes up on a separate page rather than a popup screen and no long shows editing options for fonts, smilies, pictures, etc.
2. Pressing like takes you to a confirm screen rather than simply adding your like. It still works the same, I'm just mentioning I noticed it.
3. Pressing alerts takes you to a separate screen rather than doing the little in-page popup. Again, this isn't exactly a problem as it still works, but I wanted to mention it.

@Dagger311 That's what I'm calling it for lack of a better term. It doesn't show a mobile address, but everything is condensed as you might expect on a mobile version so I'm assuming maybe it's hiding the address change or doing something according to the browser/OS you're using or some such thing to decide to show a simplified version.

GTPlanet uses responsive web design - there are no discreet sites for different devices, only the one which adapts its display size to the device it's being viewed on.

It's hard to say what's going on here, as there's been no changes to the site code for over a week now and I can't replicate any of these problems on any of my mobile devices. This would suggest, to me, that Android's auto-updates may have introduced some obscure bugs in the browser.

@raven214 Much of what you've described sounds like what would happen if JavaScript is disabled. You might want to check your browser settings (or any "security" apps or software you may have installed on your phone) to see if they have changed beyond your intended parameters.

That's strange because I'm not changing anything on my end, and the problem comes and goes on it's own. I wonder if it's somehow related to site traffic as it does seem to be happening during the peak of the day. For example, I will occasionally get a site can't load/time out message or the site will load a text-only version. A refresh usually fixes these glitches, which I assume are tied to server/traffic issues.

It is strange, and I can't really explain what's happening to you. The site's infrastructure is healthy and more than adequate for peak traffic loads.

Have you tried using other mobile browsers, such as Chrome, Opera, or Firefox?

No, but I will look into it the next time it happens. So far, so good today! 👍
