firstly you are treated nicley and then it all goes down the drain. i got a warning for posting 10 a day. i cant believe that you can post that many. i got anther warning for multiple posting. why cant you people leave me alone and get on with your own job. runnuing the website not running me down for nothing. people swear but i get yelled at first. sorry gtp but i need to be treated nicley. by the way this letter is not angry so dont block me for posting it as i would like to stay on your otherwise exellent website. it just seems that my views must be put across to you

You've got a 8/5 ratio of closed thread to ones that are still open, when people come in and disrupt the forum like that, you can't expect us to still be real friendly with you. Plus you're still not following the AUP, which the staff enforce, like you agreed to when you first signed up.

GTPlanet.net AUP
No slang words that promote laziness, ie; “r”, “u”, “plz”, etc. will be tolerated.
Decent grammar is expected, including proper usage of capital letters. Repeated
violations will be grounds for suspension and/or permanent removal from the
forums.

Because even in a post to complain about people "getting at you", you still entirely fail to adhere to our Acceptable Use Policy that you've been directed to by many members and moderators alike.
Simple fact: If you can't follow the rules here like everyone else does, why should we tolerate you?

Hi jakesmith.

The Moderators are doing their jobs, and not targeting you in particular. They treat anyone who post like you in the same way.

Forums work, particularly GTP, by getting members to search for content that has been discussed before. There is no point starting up a topic that has been discussed in-depth in the past. If everyone did then GTP would be no where near as organised as it is.

Just search before you post a topic, and think a little as to whether it has been discussed before anyway. Anything containing "favourite", "best", "worst" etc is a good start.

Just a couple of pointers:

1) Always search for existing threads before posting.
2) Before starting a thread make sure it is in the relevant forum.
3) Check the grammar in your post/thread. It helps if everyone can understand your post, especially for members that have English as a second language.

To be honest, your not the first member to start off on a bad foot and you will not be the last. You have a chance to redeem yourself.

My advice. take it easy, read through the forums, hold back starting new threads and simply get advice about starting a new thread if you're not sure. I'm sure mods would rather have you ask for advice first than starting a new thread about a topic which already exists.

I've been reading through your posts, and looking at one thread, I think I have found the best piece of advice you've been given so far.

jake:

We understand you're new to GTP, probably new to GT4, and probably young as well. But seriously, you're heading down a bad road here.

Please stop posting just for the sake of seeing your own words in print. Get over your breathless excitement at interacting with a small portion of the world. You will find yourself fitting in much better here if you post less but make better, more thoughtful posts and threads. Honestly, in a game that's been out for 3+ years, do you not think that topics such as "easiest track" and "hardest track" have not come up before? Maybe under such disguises as "favorite track" and "worst track", but still.

Settle down, read through the FAQ threads that are linked at the top, and stop posting everything that pops into your head. It will lead to a longer, happier life for you at GTP.

So, follow that advice, and just slow down on the posting, it will really make it more enjoyable here.
Also, I know you can probably spell well, but I think if you slowed down, you would be able to find it when you misspell something, one hint, use FireFox, built in spell checker, so you won't look like a total goof when you post, all it takes is a few right-clicks, your posts will be tolerated much better.

From,
Chris.

i got a warning for posting 10 a day. i cant believe that you can post that many. i got anther warning for multiple posting.
Read it again. The warning was not for the amount of posts, but
your warning
You are posting without thought, and starting threads without searching to see if topics already exist on the subject.

You were creating topics on threads that had been discussed many times in the past. If you wish to discuss those subjects, there were other threads that you can add your thoughts too.

Read all the posts in this thread, and act upon them. 💡

firstly you are treated nicley and then it all goes down the drain.
We try to treat everyone nicely until they demonstrate what kind of member they're going to be. That's called 'common courtesy' - assume everyone deserves respect until they prove otherwise.
i got a warning for posting 10 a day. i cant believe that you can post that many. i got anther warning for multiple posting.
And here is a big part of the problem: you're in such a hurry to be active here that you are barely paying attention to what has already been posted by the 100,000-plus other members who've been here for more than a week. You haven't taken the time or effort to consider what's been said to you already. All of it is good advice, and all of it took time and effort from us to post. So pay the members, staff, and site owner here the respect they deserve for putting in that effort on your behalf. Don't just ignore it and then whine that you are not respected and treated nicely.

SLOW DOWN AND PAY ATTENTION.
why cant you people leave me alone and get on with your own job. runnuing the website not running me down for nothing.
This is our job - controlling a forum full of thousands of active posters, of many different ages, nationalities, backgrounds, and opinions. That means reducing unnecessary, unproductive traffic as much as possible.

Ever visited one of the large, weakly-moderated gaming or car forums? They are basically unusable. Dozens of repeat threads, stupid threads, flame wars, wrong information, immature idiots, etc. etc. etc. GTP prides itself on being among the most usable and effective gaming forums around. The main reason we succeed is that we have a strong group of active members and staff who share that vision and work hard to keep it happening.

Imagine you painted a nice mural, and you worked hard at it, adding a lot of detail, and fixing all the stuff that didn't look right. Then when you went home at night, taggers came and scrawled a lot of black Sharpie and spraypaint all over it. Every night. How happy would you be to see that?

You'd be faced with two choices: give up on the mural project and let it get destroyed, or stop the taggers from messing up the picture. Since we all like this forum, members and staff alike, we all do what we have to do to protect this project.

people swear but i get yelled at first. sorry gtp but i need to be treated nicley. by the way this letter is not angry so dont block me for posting it as i would like to stay on your otherwise exellent website. it just seems that my views must be put across to you
People get warned or corrected for failing to follow the rules. The rules are there for you to see when you sign up. If that's too much for you, then read the simplified version in the Rumble Strip - it's sticked right at the top. Note that MOST of the boards on this forum have threads stuck at the top.

Those are there to help guide new users to the information they are probably looking for. They are always there, and they say Read This: in the title. If you don't bother to look through those threads, don't expect people to bother handing you the information in a nice, giftwrapped package.

Firstly you are treated niceley and then it all goes down the drain. I got a warning for posting 10 threads a day. I can't believe that you can't post that many. I got another warning for multiple posting. why can't you people leave me alone and get on with your own job. Runnuing the website not running me down for nothing. People swear but I get yelled at first. Sorry gtp but I need to be treated niceley. By the way, this letter is not angry so don't block me for posting it as I would like to stay on your otherwise excellent website. It just seems that my views must be put across to you.

Try again.

people swear but i get yelled at first

Just a quickie here - how do you know?

Warnings are done behind closed doors, between the member in question and the moderation staff. We don't post up official warnings in public forums. If people swear they get warned, full stop.

Quick note: As with all of the staff and many members here, I'm willing to assist you with anything you wish via Private Message. The number one piece of assistance though is "Read Duke's post. Then read it again.".

Even though I have 101 posts, I STILL can't use an avatar from my file because I can't find the form? Where is it?:scared:

And creating another account to swear at us from is not a good idea either.

I'm STILL having an issue with finding the avatar form so I can put one of my images as my new avatar! Where is the form at?:scared: Somebody help meeeeee!:(

You don't have 100 posts.

Spamming your way to 100 by double posting and making useless posts is not acceptable. Some of your double posts have been merged, so you have lost a few.

Do not spam to get them back or you will have the ability to have an avatar removed from you

EDIT:You had 102 posts. You now have 91. That shows how many double posts you had as I didn't delete any of your posts. Stop double posting and spamming. Thank you.
