Production Car Challenge

A race series inspired by the PD cup for unmodified production cars.

Each competitor will submit a car that they would like to race in the series, each round will then be randomly drawn (car and circuit).

Races – Arcade mode hard (5 laps)

Rules
No modifications to the car are permitted (that includes tyres) except for an oil change.
Fastest lap must be 100% clean.
Settings of any adjustable parts fitted to the car as standard may be altered.

Points will be scored 10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1

Note. The TVR Speed 12, Nissan and Toyota GT1 road cars are considered 1 off specials and as such cannot be used in this championship.

I'm interested but only if the cars are chosen for us by you, i don't like everyone having different cars, it just doesnt make it even. If we all have the same car as everyone else then its even and you can see whos actually leading. Or maybe you could run it like Mr P's rally series where you get a choice of X number of cars to race on X number of tracks.

every one will race the same car for each event. Participants submit a car they would like to race in the series and post it here, for each race a car and circuit will be drawn randomly.

My car of choice

Aston Martin Vanquish

Man that sounds like fun to me, I will join if I have the time, but I don't wanna stretch myself too thin, with the BC3 coming up:)

As you can only adjust TCS & ASM on most cars I think producing a half decent run shouldn't take too much time ;)

If I had to pick the cars they would be from this list

TVR Tuscan
Aston Martin Vanquish
Corvette Z06
RUF RGT
Lotus Esprit 350 sport
Evo VII RS
Subaru Impreza 22B
Nissan Skyline GTR R34 Vspec II
Dodge Viper GTS
Lotus Motorsport Elise (Exige)
Mazda RX7 Type RZ
Honda NSX Type R
Jaguar XJ220
Renault Clio V6
RUF 3400S

and probably a couple more...........

I know it's already been suggested, but how about using arcade cars in "professional" mode?
That keeps things "honest". With no mods possible, the race will be on the merits of the car chosen, and the skill of the driver. Plus, it will definitely challenging.

If you allow all the cars listed above, you will have to break them into classes based on HP or P/W ratio to keep things fair.
Or handicap cars like the Viper and the XJ-220 with softer tires (if we use cars from our garages.) Unless, everyone is running the same car.

It's possible to win the PD cup with the TK ZZ-S. But its easy to win with the Ruf-RGT, or the Viper.

Either way it sounds like fun. I'm interested, but I have MR P's rally series at the moment, and some other things I'm dabbling in.
Am waiting with bated breath to see what you come up with.

There's more than just ONE TVR Speed 12, you know :D But I understand the basis for scratching it from the list. The Viper GTS-R Concept is also PD Cup eligible and bloody fast (second only to the 12 in FR category).

Famine. There may be more than 1 Speed 12 in existance (mainly racing cars??) but Peter Wheeler (TVR's owner) himself trys to diswade people from buying the monster that he created ;).

Cheers for the tip on the Viper Concept that is now excluded as well.

Gil. Like your suggestion for the pro mode & arcade cars (10 laps with tyre wear) :D not so sure about using the arcade cars in pro mode though due to tyre wear issues. I'll try it out tonight.

Pro mode with cars from sim side of the game with any tyres (as in the PD cup) may be the way to go. Decisions, decisions.....

So whats everyones opinion on 10 lappers??

opinion on arcade cars soon...........

Your race is a lot like the World Speed Challenge that was hosted twice at GT3Times. In that challenge, the following rules were keepnig the cars fairly close together:

- only one adjustable wing allowed
- power-to-weight ratio must fall between 2.7 and 3.1
- I think the only car that had to be excluded here was the XJ220 because it blew everything else away.

Arcade mode doesn't work - the cars will be too different and rank from each other to obviously.

All those races were 5 lap Arcade Hard. Tirewear could make this a lot more interesting. If you go for 10 lap Pro mode, I'd say that could work very well. But don't use Arcade cars, because you are right, the tire-wear will become an issue of note, and also remember there are so few Arcade cars that a fastest one is likely to arise quickly.

It could be interesting to combine this with a power-to-weight bandwidth of 3.0-3.4, combined with the tirewear that really opens the field for a large range of cars imo. Could be great fun.

Had a go with the arcade cars in pro mode. As suspected tyre wear is a problem leading to a lot of understeer.

I think the Class A arcade cars run at hard level would be fun with some tight racing against the AI but its not what I was aiming for with this series (but well worth a punt in another)

So the way things currently stand

Arcade mode - pro level - sim cars - free tyres

The power to weight ratio banding that Arwin has suggest makes sense but I need to look at the cars that would be used ;)

Also like the idea of a set list of cars that drivers must use, like in the STRCC and A.R.C that are currently in progress

more soon......

Sounds interesting. . . I would probably fall into the Evolution VII GSR though :D

Cars from simulation mode will be used, each driver will submit one car that they would like the series to use. Every competitior will use the same car for each round. Cars will be selected randomly from those submitted. Only cars that can be purchased through a car dealer may be submitted

Oil change permitted
Any type of tyre may be used
No other modifications are allowed

Races will be held in arcade mode professional level, these races are 10 laps and feature tyre wear.

Your fastest lap must be 100% clean

Points – subject to the number of drivers

Rounds – this series will consist of 8 different rounds

Currently Submitted Cars

Motorsport Elise – graveltrap
Supra RZ – Suprajef
Evo VII GSR – Miata13b

or

A 14 round race series using the arcade mode A-class cars

How it works.

Competitors select the Class A car that they wish to use for each round. Each driver must race a different type of car for each round. This adds an element of strategy to the championship.

2 Races to be run per week. Races are to be held in Arcade Mode – Hard - 5 laps

Time discussion. Any T times.

Rules: Fastest lap must be 100% clean

Points. 10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1 (subject to number of entrants)

Class A Car Selection
