OK folks, I'm officially addicted to the 4h Nurburgring race on the Type V track.
What's the *slowest* car that can beat the Amuse GT1 Turbo?

Please note, I don't mean the worst car, it's got to stay a fun race!
FR/MR cars preferred, crazy sliding on average tyres preferred :D

Also what's the average laptime you need to win,?
I think and 8 min 45 second lap will do, but can you go slower and still win.

Please post car AND tyre combos on Nurburgring Type V, you don't need to do the whole 4h race.
Just state car, time and tyres and how much fun you had!

EDIT! OK, GT300 and similar PP race cars around 540-550PP are looking good.
Let's get some more suggestions for normal road cars; the Camaro SS is looking good, Maclaren F1 and Tommy Kaira ZZII probably too fast on tyres above SS.

Thanks in advance :)

THIS ISN'T A LEADERBOARD! Just a guide to get close to the target :)

After just running an incredibly close race in the RE Amemiya Asparadrink '06 it's safe to say you can't run your fastest times every lap for 4 hours. I spent a hell of a lot of time holding up the GT1 Turbo on Dottinger Hohe and ran my tank almost dry on the last lap to get eke out the vital few more seconds needed to win!

Type V circuit - Target time is 8.45:
TIME -----CAR------------------------- PP ------- POWER ----WGHT --- TYRES -- SRF ON/OFF
===================================================================================
8'42"X --- Amuse S2000 GT1 '04 ------- 525 PP --- 360 BHP --- 1200 kg --- SS --- SRF Off --- raVer
8'42.X --- Camaro SS '10 -------------- 539 PP --- ??? BHP ---- ???? kg --- RM --- SRF ?? --- Morgoth_666
8'44"X --- RE AM Asparadrink RX7 '06 --- 523PP --- 321 BHP --- 1100 kg --- RH ---SRF Off --- Mangobob
8'45"X --- Autobacs Arta Garaiya '03 --- 538 PP --- 334 BHP --- 1125 kg --- RH --- SRF Off --- SmokingCones
8'48"X --- Honda S2000 LM Race Car --- 508 PP --- 331 BHP --- 1050 kg --- RH --- SRF Off --- SmokingCones
8'50"X --- TVR Tuscan Speed 6 RM ---- 563 PP ---- 396 BHP --- 885 kg --- RH --- SRF Off --- SmokingCones

Too fast: (debatable around 8.40, these guys are pretty quick, so give 'em a go if you want to play safe):
8'12.X --- Falken GT*R ---------------- ??? PP --- 526 BHP --- 1390 kg --- RS --- SRF ?? --- KingSakery
8'21.X --- Tommy Kaira ZZII ----------- 589 PP --- 543 BHP --- 930 kg --- RS --- SRF OFF --- MeanElf
8'26"X --- Autobacs Arta Garaiya '08 --- 559 PP --- 407 BHP --- 1175 kg --- RH --- SRF Off --- SmokingCones
8'35"X --- Lexus IS-F Racing Concept --- 567 PP --- 535BHP --- 1350kg --- RH --- SRF Off --- t_w_a_h
8'38"X --- McLaren F1 ---------------- 607 PP ---- 611 BHP --- 1140 kg --- SS --- SRF Off --- SmokingCones

Too slow: (NOTE - CHECK THE STATS, there's more time to be had from tyres/tuning in many of these!)
8'55"X --- RE Amemiya FD35 RX-7 ------ 527 PP --- 376 BHP --- 1240 kg --- SS --- SRF Off --- SmokingCones
9'01"X --- BMW M3 CSL ---------------- 503 PP --- 391 BHP --- 1385 kg --- SS --- SRF Off --- SmokingCones
9'49"X --- Typ2 Sambabus '62 ---------- 431 PP --- 204 BHP ---- 931 kg --- RS --- SRF Off --- Mangobob

Standard circuit guideline - Target time is 7.15 (taking 1.30 off Type V times to account for the GP leg):
TIME -----CAR------------------------- PP ------- POWER ----WGHT --- TYRES -- SRF ON/OFF
===================================================================================
08:42 --- Dodge RAM 1500 ------------ 451 PP --- 354 BHP --- 1810 kg --- CS --- SRF OFF --- MeanElf

I'm currently looking for the same thing - find the slowest but yet enjoyable car to win that will probably be my last Nürburgring 4 H.

8'26"X --- Autobacs Arta Garaiya '08 --- 559 PP --- 407 BHP --- 1175 kg --- RH
8'48"X --- Honda S2000 LM Race Car --- 508 PP --- 331 BHP --- 1050 kg --- RH

Note these lap times were done with fresh tires. I'll try with some other cars and report the results.

Inspired by the current seasonals, I've been trying my Dodge RAM hemi-quad out in a few combos. At the moment it's too powerfull to be a meaningful competitor for the S2000 with 704bhp clearing 7:21 - but I intend to report back with lower settings a bit later on.

I will say straight off that it's been immense fun at whichever level I've tried it so far, as you can really throw that thing about, and she still keeps on powering through - a surprisingly good one for the Nürburgring and it'll keep you on yer toes!

Okay, this is the regular Nürburgring still, so not yet done the Type V for comparison - the RAM 1500 Laramie even on terrible tyres and a low bhp still manages an 8:42 - so I reckon it's a contender for the next time I do the 4hr (probably Monday)

08:42 --- Dodge RAM 1500--- 451 PP --- 354 BHP --- 1810 kg --- Comfort Soft

I tried the moddifed Golf from HPA, the R32 conversion.
It's sporting in the range of 680 HP tho it is heavier than the Amuse GT1 Turbo. Racing Hard, Time - don't remember.
Very nice and close race.

Altho be careful there are 2 diffrent Amuses staring.

The Amuse GT1 is easy to beat, kind of. The Amuse GT1 Turbo however is not easy (for the golf). But it needs more fuel and pits more often than the non-Turbo version. I never manged to get both Amuses in the Grid ... which would be even more fun :)

Edit: I will try again and note the lap times :) Awesome race it is, and still not 24h long, 4h is pretty enjoyful on a weekend.

i was able to get to the first position quite easily (5th corner or so) with a Stock M5.
However the car is quite heavy and thus not so nice to drive for 4h.
The M3 (Stock) was a bit low on raw HP from my point of view.

Im also still searching for a competitive car so far...

M3 CSL anyone?

My all time favourite around the 'ring, and if you tune it to around 530pp it should be a nice match.

I thought the audi LMS car was in that endurance? Isn't that faster than the Amuse?

Good point, not sure if it's faster, I've seen the Amuse a lot more than the R8, think that might only turn up if you're hideously overpowered?

SmokingCones and MeanElf, thanks for contributing! Times added, I'm assuming SRF off...

We're just after DATA here, so set up your car and set a lap on the Type V in practice mode to check times.
I figure 500-500pp is about right with racing hard tyres, aim to get it as close to 8.45 as possible.

SmokingCones the S2000 LM looks really close, what downforce settings were you running?

Awww, I deperately wanted it to work, but the Sambabus is out!

9'49"X --- Typ2 Sambabus '62 --- 431 PP --- 204BHP --- 931kg --- RS --- SRF Off --- Mangobob

First attempt and had traffic troubles as I started the 4h race, but I'm not gonna shave a minute off that :(

Okay, here are some more:

8'38"X --- McLaren F1 -------------------- 607 PP --- 611 BHP --- 1140 kg --- SS
8'45"X --- Autobacs Arta Garaiya '03 --- 538 PP --- 334 BHP --- 1125 kg --- RH
8'50"X --- TVR Tuscan Speed 6 RM ----- 563 PP --- 396 BHP --- 885 kg --- RH
9'01"X --- BMW M3 CSL ------------------ 503 PP --- 391 BHP --- 1385 kg --- SS

McLaren F1 & Garaiya were stock except tires on the F1.
M3CSL was slightly tuned (ECU, sports air filter, sports exhaust, catalytic converter and soft tires). Add 30-50 hp, maybe perform stage 1 weight reduction and it should be fine.

the S2000 LM looks really close, what downforce settings were you running?

Default settings (15/40 iirc).

How about that:
Falken Skyline.

I will try that for the 4h nürb endurance. I kept it stock and have to try it on the Ring before I enter the Race.
But a 8:45 will be possible.

Maybe those too:
Integra Touring Car (or the Integra RM) --> maybe too slow ??
Clio Trophy Car
Trial Celica
Amuse S2000 R1/-street Version (the other Evolutions of the GT1´s :D)
Ford Focus RS (its a beast for me)

There are just to many Cars to try :D

Have you got the high RPM turbo on that Samba bus,
I can get under 8 minute lap, Think i got 9:55 on the 24hour track haven't tried type V yet.
and last night i won the German manufacturer nords race with mine,
tho i was over taken on the straight and was abit rough over taking the M5 on the last 3 corners.

Ill update this post with my samba tune in a sec see if ya like it,
probably still to slow but worth a try.

EDIT: Whoops i ment C63 AMG

The Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo is fast on the ring, try using it with soft racing tires. you will need to pit each 2 laps so it will make it more fun as you have to go slow so you dont have to pi as much.

I wanted to try the Amemiya FD35 for a couple of laps, but finally I did the full race. Luckily neither S2000 GT1 Turbo nor Audi LMS showed up. :D

I won the race with a lead of 10 seconds over the S2000 GT1. My best and closest enduro ever!

I will try that for the 4h nürb endurance. I kept it stock and have to try it on the Ring before I enter the Race. But a 8:45 will be possible.

Cool, post a time and the stats when you give it a go, I'll add 'em to the table at the top :)

Yep, it's turbo'd, check the power stat. It wasn't a good lap, just my first go in the traffic - but I figured it wasn't worth continuing. Under 8 mins is a good time! But that's not the 24hr track, add on the 1.20-1.30 for the GP section of the track and it's still too slow sadly...I'd love to win it in a sambabus :D

Yeah, found that out this morning when attempting it again with the Dodge truck...it's way longer than you think, eh?

I ended up at 10:25 with the same set up as posted earlier and then with more muscle I got that down to something closer but not quite there.

Not given up yet, going to have to re-try this though...

I also hope to run my baby Imprezza Sti on this also.

Good initiative MangoBob 👍

RE Amemiya AsparaDrink RX7 '06 <- this is my best race yet!

In the middle of an incredible race, on race hards, and chickened out slightly as I've given it an oil change. My god, it's close!

Lapping something like 8.48 on average, one 8.44 and one 8.39...which is the only reason I caught back up with the GT1 turbo.

My eyes are the size of the TV at the moment, he's on my arse the *whole* way round the track just waiting. Made two major mistakes, both times he's got past and disappeared off into the distance only for me to catch him in the pits (every 5th lap). I ran the tank down to do a shorter stop and hop back in front, can't do this trick again!

Every straight I'm asking him, "Does my bum look big in this?". About 10-15 blocking moves every time I'm on Dottinger-Hohe, the stewards will be having words with me at the end. But if he gets by, there's so much more power he pulls out about 25 seconds before the next pit stop.

Not sure my concentration's going to hold! Have some race mediums in reserve in case I lose him, but not sure I can face using them. How much XP do you lose for 2nd place?

--- UPDATE ---
WOW! What a race...won by 20 seconds with the Turbo eating into me at 10-15 seconds a lap as usual. My lap times get a few seconds faster in the second 2 hours, which feels good when you're racing that hard for that long and it just makes the difference on the win.

*Never* been in a close enough race where I short my pit stop and run the tank to the bottom just to eke out a few more seconds. Any time he got past me and I'd have lost the race.

The icing on the cake? That race just got me to lvl 39. Over the moon doesn't begin to cover it :D

Sadly, I think the GT300 cars are too nice to be declared the winners of the project...but they're close to the lowest PP that'll win.

Congrats on a good race, on sticking it out and on reaching level 39 - just three more of the 4hr Endurance and level 40 is yours!

Makes my impending attempt (will need to be tomorrow now) with the Tommy Kaira ZZII seem a bit safe - though it is underpowered, not fully upgraded and has no aero parts fitted, she managed an 08:30.026.

I've given up on getting the RAM to do the job, it eats tyres. The Impreza Sti likewise, just not enough power to go against an S2000 GT-1 Turbo...though after your story, I might give it a go as the laps are around 08:49(ish).

Will post the Kaira's stats when I'm next back on GT5.

470ps - do you mean bhp? That was the first car I used, but dude, you should have made it in six minutes before them

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=151681

Here's a great much longer, more in depth thread on the subject, with more very fun, very interesting cars.
That thread has a broader option - this thread is about finding the closest, (less powerful) car to the S2000 GT1 Turbo and beating it with that...leastways, that's how I understand it.

Talking of which - turns out that this one is severely overmatched too - took them by more than a lap, almost two:
08:21.277 --- Tommy Kaira ZZII ------------ 589 PP --- 543 BHP --- 930 kg --- RS --- SRF OFF

Let's see if I can find another, better suited motor - still tempted by the Imprezza Sti though...

PS/bhp i don't remember,I do remember the 470 though.I was doing full refuel at every pit stop so maybe I lost quite a few time there.Really close race, trust me :)

Well did it with the Falken GTR, and it was really fun but too easy.
392kw (stock power except oil-change) and Stock weight 1390kg (??)
