Hello :)

I got a question, what should I get for my playseat and g27?
A LED Tv 46 inch, though wont go for a super expensive one, there are a lot good ones in mid range prices of 600-800 euro.
Or a projector 90-110 inch, the problem is whst should I look for? What specifications? Lumin Power? 2 HDMI and VGA of course and resolution of 1080p.
Anything else? What brand?

Found some good prices on these benQ MS550H, W700, W703, W710ST, W1060, Epson MG850HD, Optoma HD20-HD67N with either 90- 108 inch i dont know how to say it in english, projector wall? All of these listed above are between 400-800 euro.

Please give suggestion, living in sweden so will try to look around in the stores I have. Prince range 0-800 euro, tv or projector :)

Thanks! Have a great week :)

Have you been to AVS Forums yet?

This is by far the best place to get info on projectors
Are you rainbow effect sensitive? If not, go with a good 1080p DLP like the Mitsubishi HC4000, Benq W6000, Optima HD3300. That website is awesome and they are very friendly and helpfull there. You need to do lots of homework before deciding on a projector like: will it fit in my room dimentions? will your rooms ambient light affect the contrast levels? Will you build your own screen or paint the wall, or buy one? Do you need lens shift and memory for switching from racing to movie watching? etc.

Well, I know your looking at LCD's and projectors, but is there a reason you don't want a plasma? I have a Panasonic 47" Plasma (only 720p) but the picture is almost indistinguishable from my dads 58" 1080p version of the same TV.
It actually supports 1080p output, so go figure.
Anywho, I love it, and am absolutely addicted to the 600hz refresh rate. Best part? Since Panasonic came out with their 3D series they are dirt cheap. I bought mine at Best Buy (major electronics retailer) brand new for $399 U.S.
Just an idea, best of luck finding your perfect setup.
Oh BTW, I don't know how small of a space you play in, but Plasmas throw off a decent amount of heat so you should consider that also. We don't want any GTP members being sterilized!

Projectors are awesome, and I don't think I'll ever go back to conventional TVs until 100" flat panel TVs are affordable. That said, I don't recommend them to everyone.

A good projector will look amazing, and will give you the biggest image for the dollar. The immersion factor is pretty high, and you don't have to worry about viewing angle. If you get a good retractable screen, you have a clean way of hiding the screen when you're not using it.

However, there are lots of things you have to consider. Replacement bulbs are expensive. Projectors take care to set up (projector placement, throw, screen placement). Depending on placement, running component and video cables can be a pain. An ideal setup should include a screen, which adds cost. Projectors generate heat. Projectors require more maintenance. It's like getting a pet. You have to know what you're getting into so there aren't any surprises.

A conventional LCD or plasma TV isn't as impressive as a big projection screen, but it's the path of least resistance. If you get a 42" or bigger TV and can sit fairly close to it, you'll enjoy some immersive racing that way too.

Thanks a lot for the answers!

I dont have much space, lets say a room thst is 2.5-3 meters wide 5-6 meters long, a projector migh be a bad idea then :/
I have to check up more on that.

About plasmas...what I've heard and seen is the burn in and color change. A friend has an older plasma and witin time
the tv shows some pink miss coloring but this wears off after some rest. The burn in I have heard many have had, and since I dont watch tv but will play games or so the chance might be bigger. Then again I'm not an expert so I can only speak for my self. I have also heard plasmas can get very warm....running a high end pc while having a smal room a warm tv...a ps3 and the wheel, sweat party here I come :p

But if you guys can pick between size, functionality, technology and different brands which would you pick? LCD, LED or Plasma?
Samsung is a trust worthy brand for me, having a tab, phone and pc screens makes me want to go for a Samsung :)

All info is welcome, opinions too ;)
Much thanks! Like this community so much :D

You dont have enough space for a projector.

LED is your best option. If you get an LED tv make sure you get one with at least 120-240hz refresh rate. I tested HDTVs for a month straight, 30 days. (even have a thread about it) The refresh rate is VERY important especially for gaming. My conclusion after a month of testing tvs was that the Samsung and Sony are THE best LED tvs. I even compared them to plasmas and the Samsung and Sony LED tvs are the best LEDs out there. I went with the 40" Sony Bravia 1080p 240hz refresh rate. Sony BRAVIA KDL-40EX720 I am pretty sure they have a Sony or Samsung 46" that would work very well for your application. I personally would go with the Sony. Oh the Sony Bravia also has a twin screen setup. It has PIP and P&P. The P&P allows you to split the screen any way you want. If you want a 360 on one and PS3 on the other you can do that. Its really awesome actually and only the Sony allows you to do this with multi media.

.

Don't the qumi 2 pocket projectors have a short throw?
I believe these are what mayaman uses. If iirc they can pretty much be mounted right above the seat and get a nice sized image about where your pedals would be.

I'm sure someone with much more experience will jump in soon.

Didnt he say 5 meters wide? thats plenty enough room to throw a buge image. Most projectors minimum throw distance is somewhere around 10-12 feet, so 5 meters is plenty. However, they wont fit your budget for a new one if you want 1080p. If you want 720p you can get one new. New 1080p projectors still start around $1000.

A TV is certainly more practical but i guess if you have the patience and ability to setup a projector well, then maybe that would be a better option. Personally i think projectors are impractical for gaming, a good 50 inch LED TV should do the job, i do believe it would be cheaper as well, though that's just my opinion though.

I've been looking for tv's and finding a tv with 120Hz ain't easy.
Basicly none are 120Hz, though they have their true motion rate or clear motion rate that are between 100Hz to 800Hz.
What size would be good? And and are plasmas even worth it? 46-47 inch Samsung, Sony and Philips tvs, some LGs too and up to 55 inches I did look at.
Samsungs do look most interesting right now, though what models? ue46xxxxxx up to55xxxxxx :) prince range not over 1100 euro :P

I'm not aware of any 120Hz input televisions. Many have panels that refresh at very high rates, which could be indicative of responsive panels with minimal ghosting, though you'd have to see for yourself. These high refresh rates are mainly for motion interpolation processing, which can really smooth out the look of motion, but can look artificial with movies and adds processing delays, so it's not something I'd recommend for gaming at all. For true 120Hz performance you need a decent PC and a 3D monitor with dual-link DVI.

This actually raises some interesting questions. There are lots of good TVs out there that offer a very good image. Very good. And they often have some form of image processing built in with the goal of improving TV and movie content. Any sort of processing can add latency, and few reviews really seem to cover the effects of this from a gaming perspective. Some TVs offer a "game mode" that disables all or most of the image processing features. Some "game modes" are just picture presets that simply brighten and oversaturate the image. You may want to read up on the models that interest you. I sometimes download the manuals of products I'm considering to look up how certain critical features work.

As for plasmas, I think they can look really good. I wouldn't rule out the technology unless you're really paranoid about image retention. Most plasmas have pixel orbiting or shifting features to minimize burn-in, and it's only really an issue with a static image on screen at all times.

Well I am checking couple models now, and i might as well buy a little more expensive tv and pay it off within a year ;)

LG 47LM669T / Samsung UE46ES6535 / Samsung UE46ES5705 / Samsung UE46ES5505KXXE / Samsung UE46ES6715 / LG 47LM620T / Philips 46PFL5007T / LG 55LM620T / LG 47LM640T / Samsung UE46ES6715UXXE / LG 47LM670S / LG 55LM620T / Sharp LC60LE741S.

How does sharp compare to other tv brands? Panasonic and so forth? These are the models I can actually buy and with decent prices. Any one has any ideas about those?

The LG 55LM620T Looks very interesting.
