With me being as technicall minded as I am I need help working out what makes a projector a good projector and so on.

I'm looking for a projector that can connect to my PC and TV or if it's easy to do connect my TV to my PC and just run the projector from my PC.

It doesn't need to be a superb one, I'll be using it to make a display of no more than 5 feet across. But I don't really know what to look for, price wise I'm not decided on how much to spend yet since I don't know what one should cost that fits my needs without getting too extravant with quality I'll never use ie great picture for images of 1feet across ect since mine will never be used for that. Any help or suggestions on what projectors fit my needs are much appreciated.

Something simple like an InFocus X1 (or whatever the current model is) would be fine. You could probably use a white wall, but even a cheapish screen would be better.

Trouble is, it's still going to run you a couple grand and won't be anything spectacular in terms of quality. For similar money you could have a nice rear projection screen that's easier to set up and much better looking.

You also realize that projectors are temperamental a lot more than regular tvs because of light in the room? I've seen a bunch at school as well as friends houses and all have the same problem of lighting which IMO degrades the pic unless it's dark, almost like a movie theater at all times while it is on.

Yeah it's going into the loft, making it fully darkened is not an issue and theres no windows up there. The loft had already been converted into an extra room before I got the house and I was thinking along the liens of a literal home cinema.

I'm getting a high def TV sometime next year for downstairs but the projector for will be used for work as well as movies, so either way I could do with a projecor but I don't need a superb one for either.
