Prologue ghost bug?

I've noticed a rather irritating bug while doing Lesson 6 (the Suzuki Alto Works 5 lap rally lesson)... I missed a silver by 0.002 seconds :mad: , and after I had calmed down from my rage, I set about shaving a few tenths off my ghost. My next try, I was ahead of my ghost, but noticed that my split times were showing red :confused:. I carried on anyway and finished the lesson about a car length ahead of my near-silver ghost :) , but was confounded to find that my laptime was SLOWER (several tenths infact!), and obviously I didn't get my (deserved) silver medal, which really put a serious crimp in my afternoon :grumpy:... Has anyone else noticed this? Sorry if this is old news, but I haven't seen anyone else mention this bug...
 
I've not had that problem but in one of the tests I had a problem with the gearbox staying in 4th and only switching to 2nd when I presses accelerate... which lost me precious time and cornering ability...

It was the Yaris overtaking test and which I was attempting to get gold on (And I got very close to until the lead car braked halfway round the last bend and I went up his arse cos I was slipstreaming him)

I've remarked this in previous GT games!

As it's not possible to free run against a ghost, I guess not many people will notice this in GT4-P. However, I hope that Polyphony fixes it as my main challenge in GT games is driving against my own recorded savings with another car as the ghost car.
 
i havent seen this particular problem but i have had one and the last purple license. I was trying to beat my ghost and it got in front of me but as it started to move away it began to flash like the cones in the coffe breaks and the nappeared behind me but sine then ive seen no other problems. :lol: :lol:
 
That's right, and it's been that way with every GT I can remember.

But as to why you didn't get silver after beating your ghost...I don't know.
 
That seems strange indeed.
I always turn the ghost off because it's basically preventing me from driving correctly. I had some other strange thing when I golded lesson 6 : I had run 10 tries already, with rather similar split times, and on the last run I had a first lap 0.850 faster than my ghost ! Then I constantly lost 0.200 per lap on laps 2 through 5 and finished with only a 0.050 lead on my ghost.
I has always seemed strange to me to have made such a fast first lap (almost a second quicker than what I used to do) and then being so crap on the rest of the race. I use to have rather regular lap times usually.

How do you turn the ghost off in GTP?

The only way I know is to exit the lesson and start again.....Is there an easier way, coz your not the only one to mention switching it off.

That's indeed the <select> button (and it was so in the previous editions of GT).
When you've reached 100 posts, you can use the 'Edit' options to avoid creating a new post. 💡
