OK. So my work experience is coming in two weeks and I have to call the guy in two days about me going for work experience at his place.

His name is Mike Goertz, and I was wondering how you would pronounce Goertz. (grrtz?) I don't want to give a bad impression over the phone. Thanks GTP.

Gurts.

Just call him "New Bruce", to avoid confusion.

Does no-one remember Monty Python's Flying Circus?

I do, but I'm an old fart. The rest of us farts like Gil remember it.

"'Ello, Bruce!"

simply say 'im not sure if the name is said "gert" or "goats"" he will (should) then correct you.

Or you could just say "Gertz", since that is how you pronouce it.

Either way will suffice, of course.

If he has a secretary or receptionist, ask them for the correct pronunciation of Mr. G's name.
If you add that you're really nervous about the position and that you want to make the best impression possible. He or she will hook you up. And don't forget that person's name either so that they will also be impressed.👍
Not many bosses can get by without their trusted assistants. They will discuss their impressions of you with each other.
