pros and cons on enthusia?

Pros:

Closest thing to realistic driving physics (just look at the movies on Konami's site) ;
Can't just buy your way into a fast-as-hell car, you need to earn it;
VGS meter icon is really informative;
No auto-save, so if you're not satisfied with your performance, you can ignore it and reload from a week prior;
Cars that even GT4 doesn't seem to have (1973 -- I think -- Trans-Am is one);
Changes in a car's settings are immediately reflected in sliding meters, such as between oversteer & understeer -- takes away a lot of the guesswork involved in other games;
Dragon Range!

Cons:
Can't just buy your way into a fast-as-hell car.. lol ;
No auto-save, so you need to remember to save your progress before shutting off the PS2;
Still pixely graphics, but that's a PS2 thing;
No photo mode, so you can't show off your cars or great racing moments;
Awkward menu system (GT4 got this one almost exactly right, especially for the scope of the game);
Fewer real-life tracks than GT4

I'm sure there are other points to make.

Let me add in some extra pros

sound: the car sounds are very close. A ford gt sounds like it should. In GT4 it sounds very muffled but in Enthusia it is very loud and noticeable. One thing I did not like about GT4 is the sound of the cars. You drive for laps and have to hear a car that sounds like a 4 cyclinder engine when it should have that nice v8 sound.

smart AI: the AI actually knows you are there and will swerve to avoid you if you get too close. Sometimes it may hit you but nothing is perfect right?

leveling up a car: even though it sounds very rpg-ish i find this feature very rewarding. When you think about it, you have to drive a car to level it up and to make it better. So you end up driving all the cars so it can be at level 10. I have a lot of cars I just look at in GT4 but in enthusia i actually drive them all. Even the vans. lol

the little things: the tachometer is more realistic as it is more loose and floaty. GT4 has the tachometer very stiff and it looks unrealistic. NSX-R you can feel is very revvy but in GT4 it feels like you have to work it to the higher rpms.

Then you have stuff like a rev sound for rx-7's & rx-8's. It will buzz when you get close to redline.

I agree with the above posted pros and cons. I just want to add that both the Driving Revolution Mode (tests) and the Enthusia Life mode (career) have been very well conceived. Both these modes give this game its very own identity and they provide great game-playing.

Months ago, even before this game was released, I wrote in these forums that I wouldn' mind if Enthusia was a GT4 clone, if it was another good driving/racing game. Two is better than one.

Now that I know this game I must say that konami has surpassed even my highest expectations. Enthusia is NOT a GT4 clone, it is a different game - a very good one - and I'm glad that I now have two great games, and different from each other.

i agree also on the other posts,

i find the pros, sounds are great! car handles very good with dfp, great tracks like Dragon Range
i dont like the thing that you cant record replays with a tuned car couse in free race i cant select the tuned car from my career and in a test run i cant record.. :crazy: anyway after i got all of the cars im still playing it, improving laptimes, drifting etc..
grtz

My biggest con is that you start out with REALLY slow cars and I cannot handle that. The freaking Cosmo Sport Mazda as a starting car, I mean come on now.

i thought you could select tuned cars in free race and time attack from lvl 1-10, just not exactly the one u have from life mode.

and in a test run i cant record

Just press start during replay and select record replay?? Or did I misunderstand that one?

But I have to say there really is a difference in the cars in EPR. For instance the Elise is fantastic to drive which it is known for in real life. They seem to have found the soul in each car. I find it more fun driving more "normal" sports cars in EPR unlike GT4 where you need a more exciting car to have fun/challenge.

Anyone tried getting under the reference time in the RUF Turbo R at the Nurnburgring and no black flag. Hard work, and it gave me the Grand Prix Legends feeling. And that is hard work.

Is the estima/previa hybrid unlocked?

I used it in the beginning.......... :dopey: Not bad. CVT box is cool.

Someone underestimates the 60's Cosmo Sport. :rolleyes: Its a classic, and you could've started off with a newer car you know. But the Cosmo is really and truely a nice car.

Someone likes using faster cars, eh, zero? Now the game wants to expose you to some of the underestimated, low powered machines. It puts you on a level where you have to rank up as a racer. You must earn your way to a higher powered machine, but the game influences you to use a lower powered car to conquer your difficultys. And I tell you, the slower the car, the more fun. The more the challenge.

But then again, I bet you're used to buying a Toyota Supra for 15K in GT and cramming 1,000hp not even two days in the game. So coming to conclusion, Enthusia might be too much for you. :sly:

i actually think that GT4's menu is too complex......

Enthusia asks you to confirm every selection you've made.....but it's very easy to follow.....where as GT4.....the icons are too spread out......

speaking of sound......you should listen very carefully when you brake.....there is this high pitch sound from the brakes that sounds like it's fading.....

that's the coolest thing i have hear in any racing game!!!!!!!!

as for the sound of the transmission......when a car is automatic (not Shift Assist...you can find it on the Mercs) you can actually hear that there is a torque converter....not a clutch.......
