I'm in a kart racing series. And it hurts like 🤬 with all of the bouncing around in the seat that goes on I develop bruises within an hour and it distracts me from driving. What can I do to help slow down or stop this process?

Do the rules state you have to use a hard seat?
Think of using a modded seat or add a cushion.

The kart is provided so that they are all spec. Its like renting. I found rib protectors to help with sides of ribs, but I dont have any pressure points there.

Knee pads and elbow pads might be an idea, they're the most likely spots to bruise I find. Other than that not much you can do apart from ignoring the pain, I'm lucky in that I don't notice bruises until the next day :p

What do you think of the idea of wearing a jacket or paintball vest? It sounds kind of silly at first, but they would both even out pressure...

Yeh that could work, if you wear it over your suit check that it's ok with the stewards first. Might also be worth looking around to see if you can find some padding specifically for karting.

I found this. but it only seems to help mildly with 1 pressure point, leaving 8 more pressure points to go. :P I put on my paintball vest last night to compare pressure points, it midly solves 3 pressure points, and those are the 3 most important, left shoulder, right shoulder (worst), center of back (2nd worst) Although the most annoying by far are knees, because they are symmetrical and they hit each other a lot.

As the abov post says, get a smaller seat to restrict the movement, or put some foam inserts in the places wjere it bothers you. A ribguard is also a good idea.

I personally just use foam pieces bolts near the steering column as I'd usually devlop massive bruises on the inside of my knees there. As for ribs or back, I don't have any protection as it doesn't bother me. It's probably not the best idea that I don't use a rib guard even in the Clubman kart, but I feel if I can't feel any pain, it's not worth having it there.

But to each their own. Do what you feel is comfortable with, and what's less irritating.

A motorcycle jacket might work well too.

I know you can get padded jackets where the padding is integrated into a a mesh under layer, and the actual jacket is a shell that goes over top.

A motocross protective jacket/vest could be a good option too, as they focus on protection as well as cooling. They're usually very light weight too. Probably similar to a paintball jacket in many ways, but might have padding in different spots.

If your knees are slapping together, I've seen guys use volleyball knee pads which they turn 90' towards the inside, so the pads bump into each other.
