Hey, just thought I'd share.

I remember seeing a couple of the Speed World Challenge Sport Touring Car races a couple years back, which were pretty interesting. Mostly it was a dual betweein the Integras and BMWs, with Mazda just starting to field Proteges.

But I was looking through some sites and found the standings.

With one race left, the drivers leading in points are still in Acuras, but the next two are driving Proteges, followed by BMW drivers. For manufacturer's points, BMW leads with 53, Acura has 50 and Mazda 48.

Guess I was impressed with the Mazda cars showing so well. But maybe everyone already knew this; I haven't been around here much. Anyway:

Yea, Bonaccorsi has been doing really well, same with Shauna Marinus and Hemmingson and several others.

Then there's Rodger Foo...is it just me, or does he start out really well and then crash out on his own? I've seen it happen several times. In Washington, at the start, he took his MP5 into the lead, then crashed into the wall in the next corner...ohh well I guess.

There was also that Leslie guy driving the 626...he use to do well but the 626 started breaking down(like a normal new 626 lol)...

SpeedWorld Challenge rocks!

Here's the full list of Mazda drivers:
Paul Bonaccorsi(Protege ES)
Shauna Marinus(Protege ES)
Chuck Hemmingson(Protege ES)
Scott Bradley(Protege ES)
Tom Fowler(Protege ES)
Charles Espenlaub(Protege ES)
Robert Baxter(Protege ES)
Jeff Altenburg(Protege ES)
Roger Foo(Protege 5)

I envy all you guys that still have the time to keep up with that stuff, have cable etc.. Between being at college and not having cable in my room, I've had to miss out on alot of racing categories I used to keep up with. :( (that one being one of my favorites) All I can say is, suck it up as long as you can, because when you can't, you'll really miss it.. Oh well, maybe I'll catch-up later.

who cares about the Mazdas? RTR is still Touring Champs, again this year! long live PD and Pierre, long live the Integra Type-R!

Mazkid: Cool. Do you know if those things are turbocharged or boosted up through other means?

It is kind of interesting the main Acura teams are still in Integras. Maybe they're still working on RSX tunings to stay competitive? Or waiting for the RSX Rs to make a switch?

mason: well, you can take a look at that website I posted. But I hear ya'. Put myself through school by working and taking classes full time, then went to grad school, then worked 10-12 hours a day at a professional services firm for a few years before getting hit with the job axe. Guess I have some time now.

Sertsa, the Proteges run the J-spec 2.0L I4s, not modded at all really. None of the cars in the SWC(speedworld challenge)are modded HP wise, that's what makes the series really good.

The RSX is supposed to be in use next season or later this season.

BTW, did anyone see that 24hrs of Nueremburg(sp?)? There was atleast one RX-7(a 3rd gen) in there, and also a green Opel Manta GT wiped out, that's the car my dad use to own a long time ago(way before I was born, he auto crossed it, then sold it, and saw a door from his car on the side of the highway about 2 weeks later(it was his because he had autocross decals on the door and special trim)), they are cool.

:rotfl:

you got to be kidding me! every single ****ing car in the lineup is modified. the Protéges are making somewhere around 215hp. they are modified, no way a stock engine is going to take that much abuse.

that's the spec sheet for the Protege. by comparison:

the Type-Rs are about 20hp down on the Proteges, yet they're still faster.

the RSX debuted at RA last weekend, for testing and shakedown duties. it finished 11th, not bad for a first race. expect them to be racing fulltime next year with the RSX.

erm...well...err...uhh...

You got me on that one...I've seen them with the hood open...that's a normal 2.0 Mazda engine...N/A tuned...

And Integras are lighter...I don't consider them faster, they are different than Proteges.

they look stock on the outside, but they're fully built inside.

if you look closely, you can see the exhaust manifold (header) is different on the race car than the one on the MP3. same thing for the exhaust.

the Integras are lighter, but they're also better prepared. RTR spent months of fully tuning their cars, and it shows, because an RTR Integra has been the champion for the past 2 years. having one of the best driver on the field doesn't hurt either... ;) and one of the friendliest crew i've seen. which can't be said for some BMW teams...

Well, the Proteges are actually ESs, not MP3s(cause remember there's only 1500 MP3s in the nation).

BMW seems to be kinda outclassed...thier cars are heavy, they are RWD...and they seem to cause a lot of wrecks...I've seen several times where one starts a drift(not supposed to)and then it regains grip and bumps a car next to it or it wipes out and takes some cars with it...

Bimmers are good in the qualifications... they're too fat in race trim...

what realy makes the racing competitive is that they add waight to the top 3 finishers cars.

there are also is300's running near the front

the bmw's have to run a samll engine somntin like 1.8 liters

the cars do have exhaust mods, just listen to the sound its not stock.
