During the time I typed up this introduction, the AFC-NFC Hall of Fame Game is in the First Quarter. It's a deadlock at 3 points apiece. As much as I love that football season is almost here, I know that in pro football and college football that winning is a team effort. Same goes in racing. Usually, the most underrated aspect about racing is that even though it's all about the driver getting to Victory Lane (as Jeff Gordon has in the Brickyard 400 recently), the pit crew and management are highly responsible for even providing the winning effort. But in racing, I don't think American sports reporters can be appreciated with auto racing. I know that "Texas" Tim Cowlinshaw (Dallas Morning News) likes NASCAR while Jay Mariotti (Chicago Sun Times) dislikes it. But this is another chance for racing fans to speak out that auto racing is a team sport. So, do what the title says. With that, I'll begin.

Love or loathe NASCAR, there is quite a team effort that goes into racing. A winning car has many things going for it: team, fans, driver, car, even the weather can help. But if you want to prove that racing is a team sport, look no further than sportscar racing. No, I'm not trying to tick off you NASCAR fans, I'm telling the truth. Look at Grand-Am and especially the American Le Mans Series. It entails the same things in NASCAR, only thing is that attaining victory is tougher because you have to change drivers. That means longer pit times, more determination to win, longer levels of fatigue... basically, one good racer must be as good as the others. Whether you're Tom Kristensen of Milka Duno, you race with a team. You win with a team. So why NOT call racing a team sport? Maybe we can't impress America anymore with motorsports. And I'm talking about the ones who think baseball and golf are better sports than auto racing. Damn it to Hell, GTPlanet, prove that auto racing is a team sport to these know-nothings!

It's obviously a team sport. At least in professional leagues. You aren't going to see Michael Schumacher get out of his car in pit lane to change his tires and refuel, are you?

Who's the numpty who thought auto racing was an individual sport? He's a moron.

If I may ramble on: I mother****ing hate Jay Mariotti. He hasn't made a single good point in his entire career, and he's the cockiest, most obnoxious son of a ***** I've ever seen. Why is he on TV 5 days a week. I ****ing hate his face, his ever-changing comments, and every other aspect of his life. The only useful person on Around the Horn is Woody Paige; the rest are a bunch of ****ing morons. I don't know why I watch the show every day, to tell you the truth.

I'm not sure what year, but at one Rolex 24 hour race, the Corvette that won, had to rely on his teammate in 2nd to help insure his victory. I think it was a 1st, 2nd win.

Schummey and his team mate (who is it now? Barrichello?) do that all the time.
