So my mouse got disconnected from my PC last night (for about 5 seconds) and now, even though it's connected and appears to be fine, won't do anything. Can't move the mouse and clicking does nothing. I've tried turning the PC off and disconnecting then reconnecting the mouse but that hasn't worked. Any ideas on how to fix it?

That is bizarre, usually a reboot would do it. Have you got another PS/2 mouse to test or another computer to test this mouse on?

When it was first disconnected was it yanked or tripped on? Because that could have pulled some wires out internally which is why the mouse might be dead.

Did you recently install something that looks for PS/2 devices or concerns itself with PS/2 devices?

I had a similar issue with a wireless USB keyboard not being picked up after installing dualshock 3 drivers via SCPtoolkit one time. The problem here was that while I had the keyboard plugged in, SCP Server kept thinking the usb dongle was a dualshock or something so the computer couldn't recognize it as a keyboard input device.

Must've been a driver issue as I installed all optional updates, restarted the computer and it's working perfectly now.
