PS Plus instant game collection

Hi guys,

So I am loving the games on the PS Plus instant game collection. I have been researching it quite a bit, but I have one issue :)

Is there a way to keep the games forever? I know you have access to the games forever as long as you have an ACTIVE SUBSCRIPTION to ps plus. However, the games get removed after 3 months on average.

So my ps3 is getting pretty full....if I delete a game then how do I play it/access it/get it again after the game is removed from the PS Store instant game collection list?

Besides getting multiple hard drives, or multiple ps3's, is there any easier way? Or are we supposed to NOT be allowed to do this and Sony has strategically made this hard?

:)

Go into your download history on the PS Store.
This, and you can also add new games to your download queue without actually downloading them, which is good for current content that you are not ready to play yet.
You can do these things online, away from your PS3/PS4/Vita too. AANND, you can put games in your download list for devices you don't own - plan on getting a PS4 in 6 months? Have 6months worth of IGC ready to download when you get it!

Thank you so much guys.

Very much appreciate the quick response.

Do you guys just check off every game on the list....just in case (there's always a chance of what if....however small..right?).

I can't believe I didn't know about the IGN before.....what is the point of buying games haha :)

No, only the ones I am interested in. If I dont want to play it now, it is unlikely I will in 6 months. I have no plans to buy a PS4 or Vita in the near future, so I havent checked those ones either.

The best thing is that I have played a few games that I would not have otherwise (Mafia II, Spec Ops, Stealth Inc). I also have Far Cry 3, Bioshock Infinite, Guacamelee and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons waiting for me to play.

I have a question related to this actually. Whilst I knew you could re-download a game you downloaded (even partially) before from PS+, what happens if you get the "not enough disk space" message? In other words the download doesn't start. I know it shows as "purchased" from then on but is this sufficient to enable it to be downloaded at a later date when it is no longer available for free?

Also does anyone have any ideas as to what might happen when the PS3 gets too long in the tooth, and it no longer becomes so worthwhile to remain a member of PS+? And they may even stop PS3 downloads in a couple of years. I'd like to think they will allow us to unlock our past downloads so they never expire, but I can't help thinking it's more likely we will need to continue membership, which may only be worthwhile with ownership of a PS4 (and/or a future handheld, though this seems unlikely to happen)

Yes, when the item shows as purchased you can download it at any time, even after it has expired from the instant game collection. That said, you will still need to be a member of PS+ to use the content.

If you want to check whether or not you'll be able to re-download a game at a later date just check your downloads list. The first 'level' of the PSN store (i.e. the first menu before you press anything after launching the store) has a link to your downloads list near the bottom. As long as the game is on there you'll be able to grab it later.

Thanks guys, I'm getting this issue with Tomb Raider, even though apparently I have 2-3Gb to spare. I think it might be one of those annoying games that downloads in a "bubble" then you have to install, presumably using a bit more memory (though I appreciate the installation process usually has a slightly larger footprint than just the game itself anyway)

In fairness I do also have about 30 demos I downloaded from the PS Store to work through, so I could just play and delete a bunch of those first :)
