PS Vita Questions

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask two questions before considering buying the PS Vita:

Firstly, is there any way possible for me to exchange a UMD version of any PSP game for a digital version? Example: I want to swap a GTPSP UMD for a GTPSP on the PS Store, is it possible?

Secondly, can you play with PSPs on a Vita? Example: I have GTPSP, and a PS Vita, my brother has a PSP and GTPSP as well, will it be possible to play cross-platform like that?

I have tried with shop assistants in my local GAME store, but they can't answer the second question, and are negative about the first... So I want to make sure to get as much information as possible first!

1: No, That's like giving it away , Game(edit) is the only way but you wont get much for any 3 year old UMD towards a digital version.

2: No if its digital VS UMD, but digital vs digital should work. It hasn't been tested thoroughly but Sony gives a warning that UMD vs Digital may not work.

However I have been informed in the time since I posted this that it IS possible to swap games around, but Only if you have a Japanese PSN, and there's a kick too, it must be on this list here: (Sorry I can't get the translated page up.)
