PS2 controller doesn't work in GT5 ?

I have a converter cable so I can use my old PS2 controller with my PS3, when ever I want to play multiplayer on anything.

This has always worked fine, an any game I've played, until GT5 where I can't get the PS2 controller to work when driving ? It works for all the menus, but when you actually get into the car, it stops working ?

I've looked in the options section, and it allows me to change the setting using the PS2 controller, but it still doesn't work during a race ?

Any bright ideas ? Other than spending £40 on a DS3 !

Not sure - haven't heard of this problem.

Check in the settings that your game knows you're using a pad and not a wheel...

I have the same problem, I have only one ps3 controller and new ps2 controller so I bought converter and ps2 controller works in menus but not in the race... Does anybody know the solution?
