Please ask
I bought the adapter to use a PS2 controller on my PS3 specifically for GT6. It navigates the menus but won't accelerate in GT6. I press the button and it says accelerate but as soon as the race starts the car won't go. Not with X or the buttons i have mapped. Does anybody have a solution for this? The reason I did this is because my DS3 is malfunctioning and I don't have an extra $50 for a new DS3.

That's strange, I had read that people were doing this because the pressure sensitivity gradiation was better on the X and O. Maybe its the brand of adapter? I purchased a cheap one to use with my PC and not all of the buttons worked. My son had an expensive one and it worked fine with his PC. I'm sorry, but I don't remember the brands.

I did a google search and found nothing relating to being able to use A DS2 on a PS3 or GT6. There's plenty of info on how to sue a PS4 controller but not one thing about the DS2 in GT6. It does say that L2 and R2 are supposed to work but I can't get it to work. Like I said earlier before the race started I pressed my mapped acell got a thing on the screen that said excel but when the race started the car would not acell pushing any button. I guess it just doesn't work with Gt6.

You may need another adapter cable, not all work with full functions. I bought this one online from Korea and yes it works fine and seems to gain a second or so per lap.

@Ridox2JZGTE gave the first heads up on this.

Not all PS2 controller adapters were created equal when they were in their hayday circa 2006-2008 or thereabouts; nevermind now. There were ones that made it so your DS2 would essentially be a DS3 with shorter throw triggers and no motion controls, but there were also ones that were so bad that they couldn't even map more than a couple button presses at once. It sounds like you got one closer to the latter.

Buy a second hand DS3, they're quite cheap on eBay etc.

I tried to modify my DS3 by putting stronger springs from a cloths peg behind the triggers in place of the original one's (which are crap). But unfortunately I was unsuccessful and ripped the little rubber button behind the trigger. However I will not give up on the task :)
