When I turn on my ps2 it blinks red and will not turn on.

It happend b4 and shook it. and slammed it against the floor and it worked. 👍

But this time the beating didnt fix it.

Is there a fix or do I just get a new ps2

Are those slim ps2s any good. I heard some place that they over heat?

Thanks
Casey

They do over heat. They have no fan. If you buy a big fan like one of those ones you place on tables and put it near the slim one, it should help.

Plus, the Slim comes online ready in case you're wondering. My friends have slims, and say they're good.

so you think my ps2 is dead?

Why didnt they put a fan in the damn thing.

I want it cuz its little but. Not if its just going to overheat.

You're not supposed to put table fans near your PS-slim. Not only is it not meant for exterior cooling seeing as how it will do nothing but keep the hot air inside the PS inside. It could cause harmonics inside the slim that would disrupt it's functionality

I like my slim PS2, and have run it for 8-12 hours continuously without problems.
It is significantly faster than the old 8 or 9 screw PS2.
They are similar in design to the original Playstation or the PSOne.
It has an opening deck, instead of that damnable sliding drawer thingie.
If you get a wild hair and take apart or open your PS2 you will note that it has a lot of unused space inside. And a great deal of dust, and dust bunnies are probably living inside.
The new one doesn't look like it will gather nearly as much dust, nor will it do it quickly.

Not if the giant fan air is being blown into it fast enough, then it will just blow all the hot air out or cool it. It's like exhaling warm air in front of a jet engine, you're not going to do anything becuase the jet engine has already pwned your ass with its jumbo air blast.

But here's a suggestion for Sony- more heatsinks to dispell the excess heat. And note the type of surface the PS2 is on as well, try to avoid carpets/rugs especially.

My slim PS2 works fine; I've had GT4 loaded in it for the past 5 days. It gets a little warm but nothing crazy to worry about plus I have it jacked up on two pencils just in case. I would defiantly recommend it.
